I over the years I actually didn't think I'd ever buy anything other than Arai, but the quality just doesn't quantify the cost these days. Nolan group used to be the kind of stuff you'd see on the head of a battered C90 rider.

The world has changed since then, ;)

    Sorry back at ya !!

My first decent lid was a Kiwi, whatever happened to them ?

    Anyway, side pods.

I actually like the side pods 'cause they finish off the helmet and hide all the visor workings. The visor workings are not particularly pleasant to look at, especially after use, as they show all the scratches and bits of insects - they look tatty after a short while.

The Arai side pods cover up all that - looks much better IMHO

I know it is all subjective - I understand all that - I get it ;)

But here is what I mean - my Shoei complete with scratches:

We'll see when you've replaced a couple of sets of sidepods at 30 quid a pop.
I'm not really worried about what it looks like, I can't see it when it's doing what I bought it for.

Recently bought my first Arai after trying many helmets in my price range.

I was not after any brand name in particular, just wanted a helmet which fits good.

Found the Arai was the perfect fit for my small head, the other helmets were either to tight/loose or too rounded for my shape head.

Now had the helmet a few weeks and my first impressions of the Arai so far - Its a very comfortable firm fit, But a tad noisy at high speed.
Good quality inside & out and I also like the way the side pods cover the visor mechanism.

Only small niggle was the visor moment opening / closing was very stiff, So I removed the visor & side pods which were dry of any lubrication, Applied a light amount of silicone grease to the visor back plates, and to the side pods edges which press against the visor.
Now the visor works perfectly and hopefully this will also help with the open/ closing wear rate. :)

You can't really see the inner mechanism once you have a dark visor fitted....
