From what I can see they seem to vary from 1-1.5k Seen 2 around 7-800 but no knowledge of of millage etc which is worrying. Hopefully it won't come to that anyway (holding on to last tiny bit of hope)
Oh man, what a nightmare! Very impressed to see how everyone has rallied around. I hope you get some solid news on it over the weekend and that it is not too bad. Will definitely be keeping an eye on my oil after reading this so, although its not much consolation, at least you know it will be saving at least one other engine.

No just other people have checked there's since I wrote the thread and found them to be low! So im just glad it has helped someone out, I will be checking mine tomorrow afternoon so will update my findings tomorrow evening FINGERS CROSSED
If it's engine replacement and replacement is sourced from Dorset, Midlands or Ipswich, it is poss I may ave a vehicle passing and could get it dropped to Basingstoke if any help. Hope all works out

Sounds like she's missing too , I take it you,ve checked to make sure a plug has,nt decided to come loose,that alone can make strange sounds..Have you done the "Screw driver" trick?........Or borrow a stethiscope from a mechanic to locate the area of the rattle.
I checked my RR9 the other day and needed to put in almost 3/4 litre of oil and I had done maybe 1k over a few weekends but I know I ride hard. Was shocked cos my brother's big bang R1 doesn't drink any at all. Check it before every ride now and no oil leaks at all so it's clearly burning it but no blue smoke.... A blade thing I guess All the best with the situation tho mate I've been there too
