Well just spent a couple of hours with Arthur and the bike and turns out that my CCT is fine :(
Arthur spent a while ivestigating the problem and after a worrying 20-30mins thinks it could be the gearbox causing the problem.
The bike will shortly be transported to Arthur's workshop and be dismantled further investigation.

    THANKS AGAIN ARTHUR :D

Ps. anyone want a brand new CCT unopened?

    No prob.

Those who placed bets on CCT are unlucky! When I arrived Martin said you want to listen so I though why not he fires it up and I put the scope over the engine to locate the noise, I was surprised to hear it in the back end of the engine but noises move around so though fair enough, a few seconds later we switched it off, I though let's have a quick look though the oil filler to eyeball the clutch bolts incase ones come undone while turning the engine over bit by bit on the button it came to a lock, next was to remove the cover check starter clutch, CCT etc all ok, pull the clutch in and you can turn the motor over by hand no problem, so next is to get it in the workshop and pull the gearbox to see what's binding it up and causing the rattle, seems to me Martin was lucky on the day of his ride not to have had the bike lockup!

I was just thinking about locking while ridding about 10 mins before reading that, I weren't hanging around either! So there was me feeling all miserable wondering what I had done to piss off the big man upstairs and it turns out maybe I was more lucky than unlucky!

Agree mate, I'm not going to guess what could be wrong but I susspect something small has come a drift, jogging the motor over on the button has dislodged something and its now locked solid, once back at mine we can spin the clutch off remove the gearbox plate and box and take a look, also check the top end over for peace of mind. Just arranging collection for you.

no that means that its usually easier to take apart,
and if not mistaken the last time I looked a complete
gearbox 2nd hand was around £250
