Well was bored today so pushed the bike out and took some more pics with the repositioned tail, came in a played around with photoshop and came up with this.. Frame will be polished silverish and the new subframe perhaps white..
Well things have been quiet on this thread for awhile while the garage is filled with rubbish as im building a log cabin in the garden But that hasnt stopped me buying stuff now I sold the old engine and raised some more money, Ive been searching ebay daily for parts and have now bought the rr4 main loom and the 2012 headlight loom (thanks Mark), still need the rr4 headlight loom and coil pack loom. Im also watching some RR4 rec on ebay and ECU's. The ECU will probably come from the US as dont want the HISS which means you need the keys also and people ask big money for these so non HISS it is. Ive also had a bargain and will soon be the owner of two carbed blades as won another frame & ID on ebay for £60. Its the older style frame so the tail unit will bolt right on without mods + it will save me cutting up my mint frame and getting the powdercoat removed etc. Its also been lightly polished already so will save some elbow grease there too. I will keep my old frame and ID so and perhaps use that for another project later on.. So the bike just aged 3 years this winter!! I will need to mod it so the later tank mounts up front etc but that should be fairly easy
Well started work today stripping the bike, as im working from a different frame will keep it easy as can push this lot aside until im ready to move parts over Both engines side by side for comparison, the good news is the lower mount is exactly the same size 17.5mm but the upper rear is smaller so may need something custom for this one.. The important thing will be to ensure the front sprocket is in roughly the right possition! I dont have any of the 1000 engine mounts so just buying some off ebay so can see whats what then.
Well not much to update but received these today and thought it was worth sharing, these were £40 posted from HK brand new and the quality seems very good indeed, as good as my samcos and at a 1/4 of the price! I noticed them on Ebay a few weeks back and was dubious but have to say im very please these are cbr1000rr hoses of course but noticed the seller does other models. Will take some better pictures when I have them open and compare them to the samcos

These are the hoses I won, colour is also exactly the same! I paid £160 for the samcos for the 900 and that was 8 hoses i think.. OK also made this little dolly tonight for easy handling of the engine View attachment 15042 One engine, one frame shit loads of nuts and bolts.. Its got to work!!!!

Thanks very much BW Went in the garage tonight and decided it was time the angle grinder had some action on this project. Im not sure if I didnt have this £60 frame I would be quite so willing to start hacking up my frame so its worked out quite well. Anyway first to go was the front engine mounts on the frame cut those off so the frame would start to sit over the engine. When it was on the next issue was the lower engine mounting point. On the engine you can see where I have marked it in red the mounts doesnt line up so angle grinder was out again to play. Now ive decided im going to hack this up and get the engine sitting in the right place then give it to someone who knows what he's doing to clean it up and finish off. marked up roughly how much needs to be removed, the deciding factor where the engine sits is the chain run of course.. I think where I have it is close, I can space the sprocket to make up any slack Then refitted and put the engine mount though to hold it roughly in place. Now the next blocking point to getting the engine to sit down enough at the front was to cut the frame side on the right as the clutch casing is huge on the 1000 motor. First I marked up what I wanted to cut off After cutting, as i said it messy now but will be cleaned up and welded up and extra strenthing added to compensate. Now its getting there, had to stop as it was getting late and the missus was getting in a huff. I need to lower the front of the engine a little more, I think I may have to cut a small section out for the cam chain adjuster.. I also tried the new subframe and the spare tank I found on ebay for £40

Thanks chaps, engine went for £800 Clarkey but had a nightmare with TNT as they damaged it, dropped it and smashed the rear mounting off the crankcase casting. Running through an insurance claim with them now Martin for the airbox thats why I bought the second tank as im sure there wont be clearance and the inside of the tank will require cutting (more angle grinding fun ). The plan will be to add volume to the bottom when I fit the fuel pump to retain the capacity. perhaps depending on room even build it out under the seat a bit to centralise the weight
OK well got sucked in again this morning, went out for 5 mins to tidy up and ended up playing again Ok so thinking of securing the rear upper engine mount as below in the mockup using the 900 engine frame brackets. Will then have two alloy blocks welded on to the inside of the frame to support the brackets and drill and thread them so the brackets can be bolted on. Have various spacer pieces which you can see fitted to take up the slack and longer ones which can be cut to size. This is the same as the 900 motor mounts so think it should be fine.. Anyone think of anything better? Also had a tidy up on the frame cutting, getting close to where I want it now need to mock up some front support as templates to give the machinist to copy.
Thanks chaps Martin, no skill here mate its all pot luck haha Had bad news yesterday, the engine I sent with Parcels2go which TNT managed to drop and smash to pieces P2G are not going to refund any money I didnt see engines were in their restricted items list and they wont cover the £500 the chap who bought the engine insured it for.. As I arranged the shipping its my fault so ive had to refund the guy £500 out of my own pocket.. So annoyed with myself and TNT for their **** up!! So moral of the story if your shipping something let the buyer sort it out and then your not liable P2G have offered me £38.50 as a good will gesture.. Well thanks very ****ing much!!
