Hi Guys my new (to me) blade is a 2012...at least registered in 2012 although it's still got the needle type tacho, it's only got 1500 miles on it and i've been daring to open the throttle a bit more lol

The problem is it seems to have clutch slip under heavy load. It's been fitted with adjustable aftermarket levers and the adjustment cable is actually screwed out quite a long way but the bite position for the clutch is a comfortable two thirds out from the bars so i'm assuming adjustment isn't causing the problem?

It's only had one service at a dealer and i'm assuming they would use the correct oil so might be safe to rule that out as a cause...

I'm in contact with a dealer to get this sorted under warantee but wondered if anyone else had experienced this problem?

Well trisers I would be looking closely at the lever adjustment ... followed by the other end of the cable and its adjuster
Then check for the cable sticking

Those were my first thoughts but the feel of the clutch is silky smooth and as i said the bite point is comfortably off the point where the lever is fully out...I'll double check those to be sure though

Possibly unrelated but has it had the clutch recall done?

just make sure it has some play in the lever, roughly 10mm.

    if it's tight,then it's 99% this.

Well I'm not aware of any recall...the service record doesn't show any evidence of it either?

The free play before the clutch bites seems to be slightly over 10 mm so i'm sure it's not just a case of adjustment. I have emailed a main dealer asking if he's seen this before and the reply was yes, either worn clutch plates (unlikely to be caused by riding style after less than 1600 miles?) or the clutch is incorrectly assembled...

Does anyone know of any service bulletins relating to this?

When the clutch is out is there any slack at the clutch end? The cable should not be that tight - if it is the clutch could still be engaged. This can happen if the levers don't move enough cable as the stock items.

RR8 definitely had a clutch replacement, but I'm not sure if it still affects the RRB.
P.S. For clarity, your bike is a 2011 model, not 2012.

Just an update. I thought i'd try readjusting the clutch lever before bothering with getting it to a dealer so i returned the handlebar end adjuster wheel to about halfway out. This gave some definite slack on the cable and i was a little concerned that the clutch wouldn't fully disengage with the lever right in so i was a little hesitant putting in gear to test it but all seemed well!

Gave it a good blast at the weekend (roads finally dry lol) and all seems well!

Strangely, the bite position doesn't feel as though it's changed a great deal, yes it's a little closer to the bar but not very much at all. Must be down to the geometry of the lever i suppose?
