    Right,

I took my 2010 blade roughly 2 years ago and turned it into a track bike ie no lights, indicators, horn etc etc and it has now been sat in the same place in my garage for 2 years (not used) only to be bought out to be cleaned or started every so often.

Now seeing everyones awesome looking bikes on here makes me miss at least taking it out on the road if I wanted to... Reason I took it off road was because I have no friends oops sorry no biking friends and got bored of going out on my own, accompanied with the fact I like to ride quick (too quick for road) and knee down so for my licence and health sake too. But think I've grown up a tad since then.

I am now thinking of sticking a tail light, rear indicators, stock rear cowl on for road use and whipping that all off when I track it. So I would keep the front with no headlight, stick a road legal exhaust sys on and sell the Akra full Ti Evo system, tweek the suspension for road and then track when needed, front switchgear back on and work out a solution for mirrors and front indicators. That way I can get an mot I think? Am I right in thinking I'd need to tape up the lights/flasher on switchgear as I won't have a headlight?

So after some advice, anything I've overlooked, pros/cons, anyone's two pence worth really. Just seems a shame to have paid £10k for a bike that's sat there for last two years, another factor was I started a new job a year ago that involves nearly two years training so daren't track it in case I ended up injured, I know this could happen walking out of your front door but to keep family happy we said its best, plus I took a pay cut to start with until I qualify in hopefully 6-8 months so haven't had spare cash to track.

    Cheers Dan

If you aren't riding at night/dusk. Just stick a number plate on it and horn your good for a MOT with "no lights fitted at test" advisory

Cheers mate, do you ride yours on the road and do you out the mirrors on when riding? Only thing that concerns me is not having a rear brake light? MOT place all lights or no lights...

Yeah lights or no lights or brake light if you prefer but cover it right up . Yeah I'm always out got used to having no mirrors now just a quick look back under arm or get some mirrors that go on end of bar ends they don't look the best but do the job

Yeah cheers for that did think about covering it up for mot, and then using on road, if I then uncover it and use it as tail light/stop light on the road dont suppose you know if it then become illegal do you know by any chance?

Although I'm a bit late on this thread, why would you want to ride a bike at any time of day without headlights (switched on)?

I agree with the maxim that other road users should take responsibility for making themselves aware of other road users, this often doesn't happen in practice; riding with headlights on might make the difference between something nasty happening and a near miss.

Is the bike of sentimental value? If not, why not sell it as a track bike and buy another that's kitted out for the road? That should save you a few hours in the garage...
