2005 fireblade leaking oil!

Evening all new on here and after a little advise. I baught a 2005 1000rr yesterday from a dealer. The blade has 11k on and full history. I picked the bike up yesterday and it ride as sweet as you like. Im a mechanic by trade so when at work today i decided to have a close look behind the fairings while i still have warranty on the bike. Iv noticed a small oil leak behind the n/s/f fearing and i carnt work out what the part thats leaking is? Its a shaft with teeth on it that has an arm pressed on it thats then bolted to the block anyone have any ideas? Many thanks in advance

 

I'm guessing it's the crank balance shaft, definately back to the dealer for warranty claim.

 

I guessed it was balance shaft it was only thing i could think of

 

Where in relation to the sump is the leak?

Is the sump covered in oil?

 

Its above sump on the lhs if sitting on bike there is misting on sump but the drip is definitely coming from behind the shaft that comes through the crank case

 

That's good mate, the RR4 to 7 suffered with galvanic corrosion around the sump plug that ate the mag sump away due to using the incorrect sump washer, yet another design feck up Honda washed their hands of.

 

Nice another great idea im guessing to remove the balancer shaft to replace the £2 seal is to split the cases?

 

Wait wait wait...........so Honda have made design mistakes in the past and don't want the expense or even to acknowledge they fecked up..........well I never, oh well at least they don't make mistakes when it's possibly a life threatening issue..........oh sh#t wait a minute!!!

just take it back,show them and tell them to sort it.job done.
