It's that time again were I need to change the oil. What are you guys all using at the moment? Some folk say I should fill it will silkolene, others say motul etc? It's easy to get confuse with viscosities and synthetics so thought ide ask the question! Doug
I use Castrol Power 1 Racing 10w30. It seems to do the job for me http://www.castrol.com/castrol/sectionbodycopy.do?categoryId=9024084&contentId=7073092
It's a toss up between ground nut and olive oil for me, but it really depends on whether you're stir-frying or dressing a salad. Outside of culinary applications, I use the same as Robin. Why? Because the sticker on my frame says Honda recommends it.
as long as it's a quality oil and not some cheapo rubbish then it will be fine. Honda recommend whoever's willing to pay them the most. Nearly all oil comes from the same base oil from the same manufacture from the same tanker even. It's then down to the individual oil companies like Motul, Castrol, Silkolene etc. who then add their own blend of additives to come up with their own oils.
Same here. Castrol Power 1 Racing in 10W-40 for me. Why? Because it's good and you can buy it in Halfrauds
Any of the top brands of 10w30 oil will be fine , I use castrol power one Racing . Its very important to change it very regular an dont rev your motor untill its warm.
Power1 racing for me too, because it comes highly recommended and Opie oils did me a cracking price so I bought a few!
Silkolene Pro4 fully synthetic 10-40 has been tested to 16000 miles before any signs of degradation in quality and protection. I was talking to a chemist who works for Silkolene recently quite an interesting bloke, in small doses.
I've got a confession to make! I feel so guilty but…………. I put my bike in for a service last month and when I went to pick it up I asked what oil they used so that I could keep using the same one if I had to top up. The mechanic replied…….. I'll take myself to the naughty corner now!
The ability to buy that castrol stuff from Halfords is very convenient! I cant be arsed with mail order... so ill try them all and see how I get on! Thanks for MOST of the replies guys
castrol power 1 why always used castrol since I switched to R4 accelerate in my old NC30 and it def felt that it was reving out slightly better and the engine wrrr was quieter.was running silcolene before that.
I have been converted by Silkolene it transformed my CBR 600 much quieter, smoother with a big improvement in gear change also when I got my Blade it had Silkolene Race pro in it according to the last service invoice and since putting Castrol 10w30 in it I have noticed more vibes, a notchy gearbox and definitely not as smooth! Castrol sponsor Honda that's the only reason why they recommend Castrol! And it doesn't mean it's the best for the bike! Ohh!! Zee try Grape seed oil on your Scroat! Your plums will be way softer mate
