The Boom stays fitted to the helmet, the electronics mount to it (push fit) so it can be moved between lids, removed for charging or USB connections away from the lid. Once the G4's paired to another unit it stays paired, so when you talk it links, after 20 seconds if no activity it drops the connection and your MP3 for example kicks back in. Talk again, the link to the other headsets regained. Pairing the scala with other G4's and bluetooth devices is simple, using it is easy once you get used to it. If I had my Iphone before the Garmin I proberbly wouldn't have bought the Garmin, I find I listen to directions rather than watch the screen.
Si, are you able to post up a closer pic, as i am trying to figure out how your mic sits? I was speaking to Scala, and they said the G9 has some better voice commands, as well as smaller mic and better speaker. Also am able to activate and deactivate the MP3 & FM radi via voice commands.. Costs is little more then a G4... Am going through the video tutorials - seems like a good product..
Si, This is good stuff as I'm off to Spain next year and I suppose i should start thinking about this. Which mount and waterproof case did you use? Ta JB
Si & Tom - i have just noticed that you have the newer baldes..mines a RR5.. i need to get my tomtom sorted asap...can you help? see here: http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/5849.htm
would love to fit my iphone to me blade so I can use me sat nav, can you guys tell me the name of the mount in your headstock as well as case and if it has a power supply etc. I just get confusing results using search engines. Cheers
You need a telferizer mount: http://www.telferizer.com/ an iPhone mount : Waterproof Tough Case for iPhone 4S & 1" Female connector for RAM Bike Mounts | eBay And I just use a 2m iPhone charger into a USB car charger in the rear which is connected to the battery. You can see the way they are mounted on page 1 of this thread matey.
They also do a full kit. Waterproof & Powered Motorcycle Centre Fork Stem Mount Kit for Apple iPhone 4S | eBay Edit: You have to go for the medium stem size though. Ie 15mm -17.2mm.
That'll do, make sure it does a2dp though. Try it first, not all Bluetooth does a2dp for voice directions, you can get a scala g4 for around £100 now, and earlier versions are cheaper.
Hi Si, just seen this post! that telferzar mount - does that not go into the hole in the centre of the yolk? my rr5 does not have a hole..
Phone bob at telferizer mate.... He may fabricate one for you, he makes them to order. Top bloke. He makes them for all blades so he said.
just did that, he said he will email it across to me shortly..am liking the iPhone holder...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Waterproo...ycle_Parts&hash=item20bd5ff4ba#ht_1782wt_1188
Yup, that's the one that's popular among a few of us now...top bit of kit, and keeps moisture out even in a monsoon!
what's the cheapest blue tooth headphone set i can get..? really just need it for directions from tomtom, maybe taking calls, and listening to music on long motorway journeys.. is it loud in the lid...? easy to hear with all the wind \ exhaust noise?
