I saw a funny rider on a Repsol this morning, felt the need to share as soon as I got to my computer.

He passed me, slowed down and then looked at me through his tinted visor and shook his head before riding off. He was obviously trying to say that he felt I was not riding well, here are my views on that and if your reading you might learn something.

Firstly when coming off the slip road from the A406 it was very clear to ride through as I was in the correct gear/rev range.

Then when stopped at the lights you was on the nearside lane which was a bus lane and motorcycles were not allowed in, I moved over and then went round the stationary bus safely as there were no cars behind, you was behind and no cars on the roundabout close enough to cause an issue.

Anyway not sure apart from you being in the bus lane and trying to undertake what the issue was, perhaps you should look in the mirror when shaking your tinted helmet at anyone.

Not always but I find quite a few riders that are not that good tend to shake their heads at others, the other day I had a rider beeping his horn at me to move forwards at the traffic lights, so he wanted me to go through a red light because he couldnt position his bike is a safe place instead of ramming right up behind me.
And the amount of riders that fly through stationary traffic and then beep at cars that were stopped there for a minute just because their mirror is in the riders way.

If many of these riders did the IAM or Rospa observed rides they would find that they would start looking at their own riding skills instead of those around them.

Repsol blade man... give it a go your would really love it and it would save neck ache

I spend most of my commute, virtually stationary Carlo and see this a lot. More often than not, the head shakers and dibbers aren't commenting on your skill as a driver or a rider but just to let you know that you're in their way. Stopping them from their mission to beat the 'system' and outrun the congestion. In the same way that you get irate headlight flashers when you overtake in the outside lane of the motorway at the upper speed limit and impede their illegal progress. Or the bikes that flash by you and then wave you on to follow them in a race.

Don't take it to heart mate. Use it as a 'flag'. It was a distinctive bike, so if you come across it again you should be able to recognise it and give it a wide berth.

Yeah, some people don't realise it's not big nor clever to ride like a twat...

Good on you for riding the way you want, and feel safe doing...

Some people think that because they have a bike they can undertake, go on the wrong side of blue arrows, etc etc... I commute in London traffic everyday and I am pretty good at it. I just catch them at the next lights and pull in front of em and shake my head right back at em...

Sounds like a complete arse to me! I watched a bloke on a RR6 filtering on the M4 over 100mph. Unluck for him he didn't notice me on my fully marked police bike and hi vis. Needless to say he's off to court.

    Hi mate,

I got the cheque for the bike, it was what I thought I would get comparing prices to MCN website etc, had to pay £900 excess though, ouch.
Have to say police were not great on this one, I had to keep calling them to see if they had been to collect the cctv, they said we now have it (4 weeks after the theft) but it was not the whole part of the video we needed so we have to return, they called me back a week later and said we are updating you that we do not have the cctv yet and if you are passing the gym where it was nicked could you pop in there and ask them to download the footage again so when we go it is ready.

Since then I have not bothered calling back.

My guess is someone in Ukraine or Estonia is having a blast just as we speak.

Been thinking of getting something else but cheaper but am having a break from inline fours for a while and am looking for a V twin around the 600cc mark.

    Thanks for asking :)
