Oh ladies and gents I'm really fed up , I love bikes and also photography I haven't got a blade most will know that , I've been saving like mad but then something breaks at home and costs a fortune to put right so easy to spend the money but oh so bloody hard to put it back (ever had that feeling or is it just me ) , I don't want brand new , something 18/24 months old will do , but to help me get the bike I dream of , do I sell my camera , and my 2 canon lens and forget about photography or just try save more until I have enough money Or forget the bike and this forum , as I was once told this forum is for people with bikes not dreamers with a camera ......
Dont sell the camera and im sure we all want you to stick around. just give it time and you will get there. is finance not an option
Wow how do we answer that question? There's not much left of this season so wait till early next year whilst saving a little more? As for having a blade, I've never had one and have yet to pass my test, however, no one knows that and I just bullshit with the rest of them, use the camera and take pics of a blade and call it yours, I won't tell?
Don't be daft, Barney. No need to sell the camera and no need to leave the forum either! I don't know who told you that the forum's "not for dreamers with a camera" but I'd say whoever it was wants to have a word with themselves. You're a top bloke who'll have his bike soon enough. As Carl says there's not really that much point buying a bike now. It'll just sit there getting sparsely used until next year. Just save up over winter
If it helps at all Barney I tend to think of this forum more as a huge 'care in the community' programme rather than a place for bikers. We've got Giv' with his obvious problems, poor Carl and his inferiority complex (ciao Carlo), Fez's albino fetish and Blaggers self harming syndrome. Me? Well I'm ginger... I like to think that we've all gathered here because no other self respecting forum would have us, and you are included as one of us. The time will come when we, the chosen will rise to the heights. A bit like scum on a pond.
Take what you have saved and go into a bike shop and get in there and buy one. Most people are against finance but it has some good points.If you are buying a second hand bike you need some protection after the shops warranty which is normally 3 months.The finance will fight on your behalf if something goes wrong.Every car and bike I buy has some finance on it to protect me.So far touch wood I've not needed to use them.The only drawback is the cost.As you have saved money by buying nearly new you will probably have still saved with finance on it.Is Honda still doing 0% finance on new blades?
Barney,Noooooooooo dont leave the Forum ill have to hunt you down and fetch ya back.Were all dreamers on this forum in one shape or another.Sell the expensive camera and buy a bike,you have an eye for photography and i bet you can still get great shots from a cheaper camera,just not faraways ones lol .
There's a few people on here that don't have blades mate, ok I think most of them did own one and have just stuck arround but in my opinion the most important thing is you have a strong interest in them. I would stick arround mate your part of the gang now blade or not
Barney, please just do whatever makes you REALLY happy. Its a well overused cliche but life really is too short.....life goes quick so it wont be long and you'll be too old or too unwell to ride so just do it today if it makes you happy. My old RR8 was as amazing fun and you can bag one of those for £5.5k now, thats a lot of fun and won't depreciate much either. Hell, i really shouldnt have my bike either but its the one thing I have left that is mine and I will always try to keep it going. Good luck, and make whatever decision is right for you. BTW, life is short but there is no rush, you can wait till spring!
You can pick up a 04 for well under £4000, that could be the way to go. Mine cost me £3500 and I frickin love it like it is a brand new one (maybe because I spend so much time fettling)
Just keep saving, I spent years saving up for my bikes it does not just happen over night as some people seem to think its hard what that I need to tell you that, stay on the forum don't leave the forum is for all types of people with an interest in blades etc and we all benifit from people like you who can guide others with photography, I bet there's a few on her like me who would love a good camera like yours but it would be wasted on the likes of me tbh what that I could afford one anyway! And after all who would we get to photograph the bikes.....lol. Stick in there mate a bike will come along! Note: can some one please tell me the point of auto spelling correction like on my iCrap that just fugs up all the stuff I type so then I have to edit every flipping post I make? note:edit I even had to edit the edit.....lol
I'd agree. I paid just under £4k for mine too and I certainly don't feel like a poor relative when we all meet up for the ride outs. A 2004 or even older is perfectly serviceable and I honestly think that you'd have to nail them round a track to find any appreciable performance difference between mine and the more modern ones. I've never felt like I was getting left behind by the newer bikes.
Sell the camera and lens, that can wait until your no longer able to throw your leg over a bike, put the money to what you have saved then bang the rest on finance, Indian summer approaches!!!!!! Go on.................You know you want to!!!!!!
Just about to reduce mine down to 6k matey, rr8 on a '10'plate with plenty of bling............that could potentially be sold off to recover some money
Keep saving barney, and dont leave the forums. Just lower your sights and pick up an 04/05. Grab one in the midst of winter when the prices are slightly lower. Got my 05, 11k miles, fsh, mint cond. £4,500. Well, it WAS mint.
Barney. Are you prepared to swap one pastime for another? As Ash said, down size the camera equipment? There are some cracking cameras for little money about now adays. And let's face it, if your riding the Blade, you won't be in your van following loones around the country side, you'll be one of them. You got to do what you feel is right mate. I swapped one past time for another. Regrets? At times I miss it, but I'm pleased I've gone the route I have. Especially when I keep meeting cracking folks on these ride outs such as yourselves.
Well, if ypur are selling you 70-200 2.8L IS, then give me a call! Save up more mate, bikes are always cheaper in winter. To rub it in, i've just bought meself a 17-40L to go with my 70-200L F4is and 24-70L
