And Rossi wasn't shown on TV much at all as he was just cruising around in the middle of nowhere.

He said as much, post-race. He said he knew he couldn't take 6th and wasn't under pressure from behind so didn't push it as the rear was sliding so much.

Can't say I blame him. That Ducati is a proper P.o.S, and they won't listen to his requests to improve it so why pull up trees and risk hurting yourself at a horrendously bad track?

Well like I said, it won't take long into the new season to see whether he's still got it or not. Supposedly, the Yamaha is still a sweet handling bike, a trait Rossi knows how to exploit well without having to adopt a new riding technique. If he doesn't, it's going to be a long two years and then we'll have to live with the embarrassment of a has been in superbikes or a wannabe in rallying.

Personally, I'd like to see him competitive-ish, at least, for the length of this contract, retire on a relative high and then just get old living the vida loca, and thank him for the entertainment over the years.

So we'll just have to wait and see whether it's just been two years of rhetoric or not. If the old Rossi is still there it'll be obvious, quickly one way or the other.

I think he's still got it, you don't just lose talent in two years time. Look at Biaggi & Checa they're still kicking arse even though they're much older than Rossi. He's shown some signs of his old self this season, remember the race in the rain where he overtook stacy moaner & took the podium? So it's definitely the bike that's holding him back. I think he's got a lot of race wins left in him & hopefully another championship.

Under normal circumstances I would join in the piss ripping of the illustrious Mr Stoner, but I've had that injury and, to be honest, looking at the pictures is making my eyes water a bit. So, as much as it pains me to do so, I'm afraid I'm going to have to sympathise with him this time.

    Interesting tweet from Cal earlier:

Also picked up MCN today which had a good interview with Cal. Went through quite a bit of the machinations of his dealings with Ducati, and they don't come out of it in a good light, shall we say.

+1 to that. Amazing he raced on Sunday AND managed to come 4th. Hats off to him, as he certainly didn't need to. He said today that he didn't want to let the team down. Props and kudos, innit.

Crutchlow set to turn his back on MotoGP
    23/08/2012

Crutchlow could well return to WSBK next year

Britain's Cal Crutchlow looks set to turn his back on the MotoGP championship and return to World Superbikes unless series boss Carmelo Ezpeleta can find the tools Crutchlow needs to challenge for race wins in 2013.

The Coventry man was gazumped for the factory Ducati ride by current team-mate Andrea Dovizioso and with no other works bikes available, Crutchlow is considering a move back to the production-based series where he will be able to win races and have a chance at the championship.

He is set for a meeting with Ezpeleta at Brno this afternoon in order to try and find a solution to the problem but the anticpated announcment of his MotoGP plans for next year will not materialise in the Czech Republic.

"There's no decision to make. I am not going to stay here and earn no money to ride against people who are on 40 times my wages, it's as simple as that. To go and challenge for fourth, fifth sixth in races, have the odd podium next year and you're racing against guys who are cruising around in limos every week. Unfortunately, for me it doesn't work like that," said Crutchlow, speaking to Brno.

"The situation got worse today, not from my side, but it's not the situation of Herve (Poncharal, Tech3 team boss) is not good enough, it's just that private teams don't have enough money and sponsorship to be able to do it. Gone are the days of guys earning a decent living in privateer teams. Why would I stay and bust my balls when I can go somewhere else, earn a decent living and challenge for a title?

"I'm not racing for money here, I'm racing for a chance to win. Herve and Tech3 can't give me a factory bike, you're not going to win on a satellite bike, it is as simple as that. I'm not saying I'm going to win, I'm saying you have to have the chance to win on a factory bike. I'm not saying I'm racing for the money but at some point in my career I need to earn a living out of it.

"I can go back to World Superbike, earn a living and challenge for a title and win, potentially, races and a championship. So at least you have a shot at winning. I need to assess the situation and see from now on but the decision won't be this weekend."

It's sad that he's leaving but it's a good decision at the end of the day. MotoGp is only about four bikes now unfortunately.

Cal Crutchlow signs again with Tech 3 and now teams up with Bradley Smith. Good for the Brits .
