That's the problem with your old bike mate good brakes! I went the whole hog on my Honda just to get it top spec it cost a small bike but there are better than ever now...lol Brembo RCS masters, Custom Hel lines ( FROM HEL UK, to me direct I'm a dealer!) , Brembo T Drive 5mm discs, Brembo GP4 calipers, Ti bleeders, banjos and fixings. Rear HPK caliper, Custom Hel line (FROM HEL UK, to me direct I'm a dealer!), Ti bleeders, banjos and fixings. My brakes are well and truly FIXED!
On the subject Arthur, and reading the above posts. A mate of mine is going to replace the fluid on my bike for me, when I can get the time to get up to his garage, as I've notice the 'feel' is starting to fall off a bit, especially around town and the fluid's looking a bit dark. He did this before on my Ducati and for a cheap bit of maintenance (he doesn't charge me) the instant improval was well worth the money (wink, wink). Now he put dot 5.1 in rather than dot 4, I should explain, he builds racing TVR's, as he tends to use this as a matter of course in the cars he services. But would I really notice the benefit of the 5.1 in standard brakes in normal road use?
In a word mate no. You will not feel any difference IMO from 5.1 to 4, I use good qual dot 4 in near all of the bikes most of the time it's Wurth fluid or Castrol. Brake fluid should be changed often IMO and I do it each service for my customers so once a year same on my own bikes if your on track you may want some nice high temp fluid but it needs even more frequent changes as its highly hygroscopic so attracts water! Best option for brakes is just this regular fluid change oh and with brembo masters there is no reason not to as they are super easy to bleed and maintain. My Honda uses Castrol DOT4
Are you using the MRR pads for road use as well as track use , do they work ok when the pads are cold ?????
Nice A!!! basically i use good fluid like A ie castrol shell wurth etc 5.1 just cos the extra few quid is a so what!! and a defo massive must the rcs fooking mint!!
Got a Brembo RCS , Just ordered some Bendix MRR pads so should have a mint set up , I am running at the momenent the silver back brembo track pads which I find really good , HPS advised me to try the Brembo track pads , really good initial bite , hope the Bendix are just as good ????
The brembo pads are really good Fez , very good initial bite , did Cadwell with them about 12 months ago and could just about out brake most there , down side is the cost , they are about £90 a set , thought i'd try the Bendix MRR as they have a good write up , plus they where £48 delivered , got about 5000 miles out of the Brembo pads
