They the nuts BUT i would be scared to fit em incase of marking on fitting and general road dirt and chips haha! Get em hung up in your living room is what i say
Soooooo...... Picked the bike up this evening at 7 and wow - it looks like an evil Repsol twin! Saw it parked up on the grass and I will remember that for a long time. Anyway, back to the ride home!.. I've had a lot of other mods done today so there is a lot to play with tomorrow when i get a proper chance to ride. Initial and quick response is it feels like a 600 but with the power of a superbike. The full list of mods today are listed below and some pics. It's going to need quite a bit of setting up me thinks.. BST's - note the weight difference on the pics below.. Ohlins TTX PCV (downloaded map for Yoshi until dyno) Braking discs Brembo SC pads (think they are sc) Accossato adjustable master cylinder HEL 'carbo' look braided lines (front only) Accossato clutch linkage GP lightwieth chain Talon sprocket +2 Grimeca rear disc Sato street hooks (rear peg removal) Think thats it. And it was all done in 1 day! Amazeballs. I will give a more detailed report tomorrow evening after more ride time. Meanwhile here are some pics from today:
Oh, one more thing.. i know it can be a bit chavvy, but thinking of some really thin, orange wheel rim tape to keep the repsol theme... Oh.. and one of those ring things to mount the preload adjuster on the Ohlins reservoir.
Bloody hell mate.. Did you buy all that in 1 go ? That really was christmas come early ha ha. Cracking garage by the way and the wheels look the nuts fitted
That looks great. I like the orange wheels but the carbon work great on the repsol too. 2.5kg is a good weight saving. My mate had them on his 08 and you can really notice the difference just picking bst wheels up. Did you get a preload adjuster forthe ttx? It clips on top of the reservoir. I know with the WP shock you can't run a rear hugger though as the reservoir is biggerthan standard. What is the clutch linkage you mentioned?
Very nice! I'm tempted with buying a set of those rims as well. Lush. RE: TTX. I went with the H0788 model rather than the H0888 as the way the res mounts is much better.
Sorry i haven't updated sooner, i've been riding then cleaning, then riding, then cleaning! Rich R - yes, i completely agree it doesnt look great however its mounted on the left of the subframe so you can actually adjust as you are riding - with is a very strange experience! Its good to see real time what effects it has to the bike. I am looking to see if i can get a bracket to mount it on the res though.. Flats - sorry, its my poor description - Accossato clutch "linkage' was what I called the whole clutch lever unit on the bars, rather than just the lever. Dan - yes - Crazy but i managed to put it through the business so VAT etc. reduces the impact somewhat! Also, sadly - its not my garage! Its a cracking technician called Arthur who I cant thank or praise enough. If anyone in the Hants area wants bike stuff doing then he's the man. PM me if you want his details - he is on this forum so he may even chip in and accept the praise...! Nutty - lol - you should see it now with the orange rim tape! By the way - DONT EVER TRY AND STICK RIM TAPE ON - its a nightmare! I used the whole roll on one side of one wheel and its still not great! I'll post a pic later and see what you guys think... Back to the ride: Pootling around town there is no real difference - to see the benefits you really have to be going pretty quick, but then - wow - it really does make a difference. On mid to fast corners, the way the bike drops in is much much quicker and it feels far happier leant over than it used to. This may be the shock as well, but it feels like it can hold the line of the corner for ever, even when getting on the gas upon exit. Its a frickin wheelie machine now! Easy power wheelies in 2nd and even 3rd. The pick up and 'traction' has improved by about 10% (however, this has also been aided by going up 2 teeth on the rear). Braking: Again, this is now rock solid and silky smooth with the Accossato MC which i recommend highly if you dont want to spend over the odds for Brembo's. Combined with the discs, pads and wheels id say braking has improved by 15%. The Power Commander is not right though.. unless 12 inch flames out the pipe every 20 seconds is whats supposed to happen! The odd flame here and there fine, but this is not right and im trying to book dyno time this week. Mind you, looked and sounded pretty cool going through the new Hindhead Tunnell last night!! I'm booked in at Silverstone on Thursday to test on track but i really want to sort the PCV before then so i might make it, might not. In Summary, considering you can buy a blade for £10k and out of the box it is AMAZING, spending almost half that again on parts does not make it 50% better. But, considering the other options out there, r1 with Akro's is near £15k and i know which i would rather have. Parts are transferable and sell-able too, so its not quite as bad as it seems. I love all the mods and wouldnt change it back - so to me its worth it. Can't wait to see the performance on track. BST's - go buy some!
So here are a couple of pics of the rim tape.. i know rim tape can be a bit chavvy, but personally, i think this looks nice and feeds back to the Repsol theme.. what do you think? I need more tape for the front! But the 3rd pic you can use to compare..
Hi Chris, and Hi to all...! Thanks for the kind words Chris your welcome anytime! Sounds like you need to get the pcv setup asap, the tps is good and the stock (dynojet) maps are close most of the time however there is no real way of knowing unless the bike is run up on the dyno, dynotech are 100% the people for the job and I have used them for years.. We could load a 0 map to see how the bike runs as it did before to see if that will get you through. (flames, pops and bangs are often down to the PAIR system adding air into the exhaust for Euro3 an easy fix) Also when your down we can check sag etc. Bike look nice mate...
Ah Ha! Welcome mate Just tried calling you - i'm free to pop over this avo if your about? Also, just tried Dynotech and think they must be on holiday
