    Good day all,

Probably been asked a gazillion times before but...

I can't the threads so i'll ask again.

Which after market standard length levers should I go for on a 09 HRC ABS?

Ones that are functional as in easy to adjust and have good feel, quality, good looks and easy to fit.

    Cheers all.

I may have some black regular length ASV levers coming up for sale as I might replace them with some Harris ones.

Never tried ASV but i have Pazzo's on my 954 and love them, i had the same levers on my previous bike (just got the perch changed), i have the shortie versions for both and have tried the full length but prefer the short ones, not just in looks for for feel as well. Anything along these lines will be good, but just don't scrimp on costs, you do get what you pay for when it comes to these things and the cheapy copies off fleabay will be ok for a while but will show their age in a few years. Good luck.

Harris all the way... not quite as short as Pazzo stubs etc. but shorter than the long option, great compromise for a thou! (great quality too...)

there is no difference if you get the right seller.

    ones this time.

I have just brought some short ASV's from Stealth, not fitted yet but look and feel good. I wouldn’t even consider buying cheap flebay stuff; it’s your bakes for god sake - safely critical item. Buy the best you can afford or stick to OE.

Picking your nose maybe? Thanks for the advice on the nuts and bolts Giv. I have wanted some of these are a while now but have always been a bit worried about the clutch being hard work as the lever is much shorter. I don’t have ruffy tuffy builder’s hands like you fella, my left hand is only used squeezing a Mont Blanc pen, dont you know.

Any good news on the work front?

thats why you make sure you get a good seller,
I worked as an aerospace engineer so I can tell when something is poor quality i.e. potential flaws or wrong cutting methods used.
we had Chinese companys out bidding us for aircraft parts(boeing, airbus,BAE etc)...its not always poor quality, its cheap labour that make there products
    cheap.

Well, here's a nice little lesson learnt... I ordered some Ebay levers, basically exact copies of Pazzos. They arrived, and look stunning. My neighbour (nosey, but nice) took an interest whilst I was fitting them, and he too is in the aerospace industry... he designs the tools used to service Airbuses, and their manufacturing processes... he agreed they are very well made and manufactured.
So, fitted the brake lever... perfect fit in every way... no play anywhere.
With the clutch lever, again the main "mating" surfaces were spot on... the pivot hole, and the hole that accepts the "thingy" that pushes on the master cylinder were spot on... However, the clutch lever on an 07 blade has a "spur" that basically acts to stop the lever opening too wide. On the chinese levers this spur is about 2-4mm longer than OE..... the result being that the clutch is never 100% released... this I noticed when I gave it a very large handful, engine note increased rapidly as one would expect, but I didnt go any faster... clutch was slipping.

Obviously I could file down this "spur" and all would be well. I'm not going to... have contacted the vendor, and someone with excellent English emailed me straight away asking if I could supply pictures of the OE and chinese levers, so they could see the problem for themselves... this I have done.

To be honest, as explained in another post, I wanted Pazzos, but couldnt decided between normal or shorty... so I bought the short chinese-cheapy levers merely to see if I liked the length, prior to buying the Pazzos.

It will be interesting to see how this gets resolved... its only £20, but I want some resolution!

The OE and Chinese levers... sure you'll agree, the chinese lever does look great!

The 2 levers with their "holes" perfectly aligned... this shows how the "spurs" are not the same length, hence the problem

I used to have shorty Pazzos on my CBR600... Went back to full length ASV on the Blade... and i must say I prefer the full length.

Pazzos have 6 step adjustment... ASV has about 100 clicks of adjustment...

Pazzo's don't fold back in case of a downed bike... ASV does.

(BUT from seeing pics of Harris levers, those look really really good!!! and I prefer the angle that they fold in case of a downed bike...)
