Heloooo. I've noticed on my RR-A that only 1 headlight is on until the high beam /passing light is activated, then other light comes on + a wee extra light for beaming. Question: How do you have both lights on when the lights are dipped? Sorry, I know it's probably a retarded question, but I'm still learning about the 'new breed'
You can't! There is a mod you can do but you can't change the reflector in the high beam and will end up blinding people.
I had a device on my old 2006 bike, you could have both on, but reduce the 'High beam' running light to a mid level output, full beam it came on full. you could even reduce it if you did ride at night to turn it off Looked good, but pointless device
The point of having 2 lights is to make approaching speed/distance more obvious.... kinda annoying that it can't both be on as it's safer I suppose I could pull the high-beam bulb and leave it on both all the time
I do miss my double lights of the old blade, just think it looks fecked with one light on. I have taken to riding about with main beams on and had no problems so far. There is another thread on here with some mods peeeps have made.
+1 what Zipper said, I only ride during the day and if I am planning on a swift ride I always put main beam on, no one has flashed or complained of being dazzled. Simple solution.
Bikes with main beam on are one of my pet hates. Just because no one has flashed doesn't mean they're not dazzled. They are probably just trying to make sure they don't hit you head on. Or they think that if they flash then that's two drivers hurtling towards each other blinded. Main beam does dazzle. Fact. The other favorite is bikes filtering with main beam. If I have a bike come up behind me in the car with main beam on I filp my mirror down. Now I can't see them at all but at least my retinas are in tact. There have been several studies that show bright lights in front of an object disguise it and make it harder to gauge it's approach speed. In short it's not necessary, it's irritating and illegal. Deep breath, rant over. Having said that I do think the bike looks daft with just one light on. I wish they'd make it so they're both on and with a high, low and off switch.
It's all fine I suppose as long as you realise you can't depend on any perceived visibility to other drivers that your one or two lights may or may not give you.
Yes. It was one of the things I was taught when learning to ride back way back when. Drivers are more atuned to 2 lights on a vehicle. When there's only 1 light it's as if their beer addled brains can't compute and you're at a greater risk of them looking through you. I'm not one for dazzling drivers, but would like to figure out how to get both the dipped lights on and have the high beam light still working indipendantly on the high and flash/pass buttons
As long as it's 2 lights .... something quirky about human psychology that I don't pretend to understand

I will bear it in mind and depending on the weather, if my back is better and Ling doesn’t have "something more important" that needs doing I would love to tag along. Maybe meet at the Green Welly truck stop for a cuppa just outside Chatteris. It looks like your route will take you right passed it.
