I don't want to go for buttoned gears all the time i can still change them myself but i do like the sounds of a QS. Do you know of anywhere in kent that can supply and fit a QS and i've been looking into it and their are lots of them which would people recomend?
Know what you mean mate, a good friend of mine had a massive crash and now only has one leg and is in a chair he ride a triumph rocket three trike now with botton shift, it's not quite the same but very trick and the only way he can shift gears. I'm in Hants mate but you can go to HM Racing - HM Racing, Performance Motorcycle Tuning, Dyno, Engine They are who you need to see mate...
I have a friend who does trackdays and has no left leg from half way down his thigh and he has a thumb rear brake and a linkage that goes through the spindle to the brake lever with a quick shifter. Its a lovely bit of engineering. He had the 05 blade and loved it. Fast like you wouldn't believe too!!
+1 I think a lot of non QS users underestimate the benefits like these. It's not all about straight line full throttle changes. Try changing mid corner without one and rolling the power on / off is a lot more likely to upset the bikes handling.. I used to think they were a waste of time until I was lent one, I'd never NOT have one now.
Arthur your a gentleman... I've just spoken to HM Racing about fitting a QS and their doing it this afternoon, So thanks again for your help and advice. I will let you all know my opinoin on the QS once i have riden my baby with it. Thanks again Guys
lol, we are based in Sittingbourne Now for those who have not ridden with a shifter. Check the latest edition of Fastbikes as Charlie came to the factory the other week and we fitted a HM Plus YK to his 12 plate R6. He went out for a quick ride and came back loving it. He then emailed me after the ride back to Bristol saying "OH WOW, OH WOW" now it has "transformed my riding" Its all there in the mag with a pic of me looking cough* cough* busy If you have never ridden with a QS you do not know what you are missing. I used to shift up without the clutch but you waste time hugely and dont always get it, with the QS it is perfect every time and does NO damage at all to the gearbox or anything else on the bike for that matter. The buzz is amazing and is sooo much fun, most things are not NEEDED in this world but how boring would that be. Anything, one of the biggest comments we hear after a customer has one fitted or when someone calls us is "thats the best mod and the only one that actually makes a difference" I never get tired of hearing that lol. But then saying all that Im gonna be biased am I not
See "blippers" have been mentioned in post, what would one need to run a blipper alongside a HM QS? Costs etc? In my ignorance thought only bikes using fly by/ride by wire not cable operated could use? Any info much appreciated! Ps my 09 blade is used only as track bike, just to save getting involved in QS's on road bikes debate
Well i had QS fitted this afternoon and yes what can i say WOW WOW WOW!!! A mod that has made an incredable difference to my bike and my riding. I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW AMAZINE MY BIKE IS NOW in fact it feels like a new bike. How have i got through life without a quick shifter. Arthur i said hello but perry, dave and most of their crew was on the track today. One problem however Tony at HMracing came accross the odd thing on my mint 2006 blade which shouldn't of been their and one example being the air filters have never been changed of which i know i've paid for. I have been taking me blade to the same honda dealer since i brought it there from new and there are a number of things that aren't right, but before i start naming them and slaging them of all over the internet i will speak to them first and see what they have to say for themselfs. But from what i've found out today don't trust Honda dealers. Buy your blade and get it looked after by a garage you know you can trust. Going back to the QS, if you haven't got one get one, you will never look back...
No some lack a MrB to over see work and make sure technicians have done jobs well, tell them to take time and do jobs well double checking all items have been checked..! There are some good dealers around I can not comment on most and only pass people onto those who I trust 100% like HM the sad thing for me is I see all the crud, all the jobs that have been invoiced and not done, the MOT fails on silly bull but major problems get over looked, Im sorry to say its not unusual! An example of one is a young lad who got a new CBF125 and got charged 130.00 for his first service, I mean they did nothing other than change 850ml-ish of oil...it doesn't even have a filter! Anyway off topic....sorry it boils noodle.....lol
Thats right and i hope my thoughts of honda dealers are changed as i'm sure there are some great honda mechanics out there, in fact Tony from HMracing was once a Honda Mechanic. however when Tony got on my bike and rode it away without turning the datatool alarm off i ask myself how is that possable so that was someshing else he had to sort!!
Oh! Hate alarms mate tbh, all I fit is road angel bike trackers, I remove more alarms than I have ever fitted! At least a tracker give a chance at recovery, text alerts and emails, monitored by a call centre and won't leave you stranded! Cost 300 plus 100 per year, also have rider down function so can txt someone if your bike falls over while running...
I'm not sure the rider down function is such a great idea? i wouldn't want my missis to know if i was down and possibly hurt i would rather call and let her know i wasn't dead yet lol...
