OK I have access to a small genny that I have used over the years but only about 750 watt output. what is a ideal genny to have? make, price and output? The less to spend the better really, and I won't be looking at buying just yet. just thought with some heads up I can keep my eyes peeled over the winter I would be running 2 sets of tyre warmers

Getting back to your point, I would always choose Honda, we use them at work and can't beat them, just make sure you get a genuine one not a copy! Output wise not sure what wattage the warmers run at for 2 sets tho maybe a 2kv should cope fine
Honda grat but expensive and I know it's worth paying the money but as I'm unsure how much use it will get i'm looking at Either second hand or something a bit cheaper to get me started
I sold mine recently as I only ever used it at Anglesey; it was a Pramac which has a Honda engine. I sold mine for £80 & paid £100 3 years previously (2nd hand). Just look at the output in watts & make sure it has the capacity to run your warmers etc. I think mine was 1400 watts & it would run 2 sets at a pinch.
Rough rule of thumb for tyre warmers is 500w per warmer. To effectively run two sets (four warmers) you will need 2kva. However this means that the 'Genny' is at maximum capacity. I have a Honda Engined 2.4kva which does the job fine. Less power means less heat and a struggling machine, but even that's better than nothing if it's all you have. Pete
Yep, minimum 2kva. And don't forget to keep an eye on the petrol or you go for a wander between sessions and come back to cold slicks !
Stunning always handy for me and others to know. After some talking seems most circuits have power. So is there much use for a genny?
Most circuits do but by the time 100 or so mad hooligans plug warmers in they will be tripping every two minutes. I paid 62 quid for a second hand 3kva russian genny with honda engine, 5 years ago. all ive had to do is service it every year and replace the polarity switch. minter
depends which tracks your planing on spending most time at.only real problem you will have power at is cadwell.Croft does have power but not many sockets so gets overloaded,thees no issues at oulton or donny,not sure if they've put more power in at Angelsea,but you know the score there. they are always handy to have but if your trailering your bike as opposed to a van then they can be a pain to move around,esp. as you'll need a fairly big 1 for 2 sets of warmers.(i'd go for a 3kv+ as this will alow you run other things aswell).
