Hi all, What's the best (effective) way of removing the information stickers off the swing arm and then the glue. I've read many-a-technique but what actually works with minimal grief? Cheers all!!
Ugh, simple as that? What about the Halfords stickers on my tool chest, I tried to get them off and ended up with a tattered mess that winds me up every time I look at it.
Hairdryer ,finger nails followed by Auto Glym Intensive Tar remover or Lighter fluid both get the glue and muck off without any damage this applies also to tank stickers just spray polish to complete.
I'm the last person to be scaremongering but i'm sure i recall somewhere on a forum that a guy had a problem with Honda honouring their warranty on a fireblade swingarm paint defect, and they stated the fact he'd removed the stickers as the reason for their refusal. Might just be internet BS and certainly not an issue if out of warranty but hey, do what you like, it will look better without them!
Its never stopped me and would never be good for any repeat business if the bike shop got stroppy about it .So get them suckers off.
What can I say! Brilliant response thanks all for the advice. One more job for those dark winter months while I'm pulling my hair out trying to remove the pillion foot rests. Ah well, at least I won't need the hair drier for it anymore!!
Where could I get the information sticker from that is on the chain guard on a 2007 Blade as mine has peeled off.
My mate, who has a massive aversion to stickers on his bikes, uses this to remove any left-over sticky residue: Goo Gone
I always used a dab of petrol on a rag to remove the glue then give it a good clean after, been doing this on every bike I have owned and havent had any problems or dull paint yet.
I think to refuse a warranty claim because the stickers had been removed is a joke and it certainly wouldn't stop me putting a claim in as I have removed mine however if the fault has been caused by the removal of the stickers then that's a different matter i.e. scratches.
