I know, I know, I shouldn't moan about trivial musings like the weather, but what an absolutely wankish time we've had regarding the weather this year. Yesterday, it was ice, today, feking freezing, it's only September for feks sake! Lets hope for any remnants of warmth and dryness for the coming weeks, especially October, cos I can't take any more of this, Captain.
Not wrong about the weather and MrB too true about business, poorest year for the bikes for me in a long time thankfully I have my fingers in a few pies for now! Been poooooring with rain all day today here and it's in for days so they say, as said seems wrong to moan about such a silly thing but it does get you down after so long...
yeah been shite not known a summer like it! and year before was pretty wank as well, maybe next year live in hope eh!
Before we start to get slagged or ridiculed for a how poo's the weather thread, and I feel we will? we can ride our shiney bikes if its raining, Some of us just choose not too, For me its a hobby, not a necesity, i like to ride my bike when its warm and dry, and i can enjoy it, I agree Si the weather has again been against us, but we still managed a few decent ride outs between us. And have had the pleasure of meeting some great guys in the process.. My blade is a year old at the end of this month, and it's now got a whole 2101 miles on the clock. 417 of them was on the last Wales run, tbh not really weather related why the miles didn't get put on this year, it was more circumstances beyond my control, but next year I've got higher expectations.
I don't want to be narrow minded about what's made it a shit year. The weather's part of it, so is business. But it's been crap for loads of other reasons too. When the time comes to kiss it off I shan't shed a tear.
Being a Scot, I've had to learn that I have to make the most of it when it does finally turn good. At the start of the year I was starting to get really depressed with it all. In the end though I figured that I would be aswell as to just get out there and enjoy it to the most whenever possible. Last year I only managed 1500 miles on the bike and seriously considered giving it up. This year though even with a late start I have managed to do more than treble that, and I'm loving biking more than ever.
Ive done more miles this year then i usually do,Ive just made the most of every dry day i could. And i got socking wet in a thunder storm which i could have done without.....Ive had a great biking year so far.
Bike wise mine has been a bit mixed, fcuked up the blade but gained a track bike for next year (should have been done sooner but hey ho) and a 04 r1 I've grown very fond of. Managed an epic euro tour and a one man mission to Scotland and had a wee ride with col. Tbh Scotland blew me away and can't wait to go again... The weather has been pants but had some great rides with lads on here and met some fellas I now consider real good mates..... Know we are luckier down here with the weather but no way am I throwing in the towell for 2012 just yet...
I have only had my blade for 14 weeks (and its been the wettest summer for 100 years, so they say) and yet have managed put on 2600 miles and a big smile on face, would hate to think how many miles I would put on if we had had a drier summer as I only use for it fun and when its dry, as my car is used for work Had another good ride out today (Wheels open day Peterborough), its getting a bit colder, but we can wrap up for that, so lets hope we get a nice dry end to the year and a mild winter
Huh. A good ride to Peterborough. The rain didn’t stop from the minute I got up to the moment I went to bed yesterday and I am not that far away. Are you sure it wasn’t just a dream Simon?
I won't miss this year for th wet weather, not done half the miles I did last year but had a cracking track tack, hope it's bett next year
I wont miss this year either. One of my local meets got cancelled this year due to constant bad weather and they were loosing money every night. we can only hope for better next year
We were lucky I guess, we set off at 9am and left wheels at 2pm to beat the rain, it started raining at about 4pm in Grantham and has not stopped since :-( It was not very busy there, and the sky did look very dark to the south ;-) So it was a real north south divide on the weather yesterday by the sounds of it then ;-)
I ride all year, most days on the TDM it's not that the year has been for a lack of bikes for me but a lack of sun...lol Put it another way, it's not as much fun in snow and ice, well not that kind of fun fun anyway....
From a personal view point my year was pretty good. A new bike, the TT and several other trips away. Also ride all year but can't beat a hot summers day for fun.
like said the weathers been shit. but still done over 5000 miles 3000 on me R1 and had the blade for 9 weeks and done 2068 miles. but dont think it will see many more this year back tyre fooked any way now do i put another bt015 to match the front which is still ok ?
I'm going to swap both mine, I guess like yours the front has got little wear, I reckon I'll get another ride out on it this year and perhaps a couple next year, then I'm going to swap both for a better? Brand ready for June. I will want a ride out before on the new ones to scrub them in.
