Getting my Tonsils removed in 4 days (Tuesday)..

Kinda looking forward to it, as i am hoping it will cure allot of the tiredness issues i am having - was diagnosed with sleepapnea - as my tonsils stopped oxygen from going in in my sleep, hence i am tired all day..

What i am not looking forward to is the pain that i will experience after the opp, and apparently last 2 weeks!

    Anyone got any tips?

That must be one monster set of tonsils Sam! I can't really give you any advice, as I had mine out when I was 6.

What I do remember is eating a lot of ice cream and mashed up weetabix, and drinking lots of Calpol.

Hospital would be best place to give you advice on aftercare buddy.

Wow, it must have been bad for you to remember all that! I don't remember what I did when I was 6 even if I tried...

Best tip is to milk it for all it's worth from your nearest and dearest. Back when I was a boy and had mine out, they force fed us ice cream after the event but a mates daughter had it done 10 or 12 years ago and they encouraged her to eat crisps and sharp crunchy stuff, so now it's probably battery acid.

thanks, for the first few days i was on ice-cream - though i eventually found out this was doing more harm then good!

i did not eat anything till near the 11th day as i could not swallow and was in way too much pain.

The scabs started coming off.. I eventually got some very strong pain killers down my throat crushed up...and then had the crusty rolls \ bread this helped with pulling the scabs off.

it was the worse experience of my life, the pain was worse then when i had my bike accident 2 years back when i cracked my ribs and broke my wrist!

I suffer from sleepapnea as well, apparently makes me snore really badly annoyes the hell out of the misses. Not having my tonsils out I'd rather she suffered than me.
