Bit of advice. Heard that you can fit 42 T rear sprocket instead of 40 T to 2005 Blade to give a bit more low down grunt. Speedo will not be accurate, but by how much mph wise ??:help:
sorry off topic but made me think of this Sean Connery's agent calls him up and says: "Sean, I've got you an audition tomorrow morning about 10ish" To which Sean replies "Tennish? I don't even have a racquet"
There is a calculator on the healtech speedo healer website. I don't think +2 teeth will affect it that much. The figure will increase/decrease depending on your speed but I would expect around 3-5% difference. The speedos are a mile out to begin with anyway so wouldn't worry too much.
Rough guide would be about 10% over reading. I did that on my old GSXR and factored it in if i rode past a speed camera etc to be sure never had a problem. And as said they are a bit out as standard anyway
Here you are Milky try this site.............................Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator
Right here we go The speedo over reads by 5% as standard With a 55 rear tyre it over reads by just 2.3% Go up 2 teeth on the back to a 44 on a 50 tyre and speedo over reads by 9.5% Go up 2 teeth with a 55 rear tyre (which I have) and speedo over reads by 6% So up 2 teeth on the back with a 55 tyre gets your speedo more or less back to where it was when it left the factory
So my 55 tyre with standard sprockets will be out ? Good enough excuse for me to go up 2 teeth i reckon lol
Well yes and no The standard speedo has a 5% over read built in So with a 55 tyre it reduces it to just a 1% over read so your actually more accurate with the 55 tyre. Fitting a 44t will take it back to 6% so roughly back to standard speedo reading.
I have a 55 rear so Going +2 on the rear sproket then, and I dont have to spend £80 on a speedo healer like I did on the R1 Result ! !!!UPDATE!!! Just got a 44th 530 sprocket from Talon in yeovil Anodised gold for £30, so will be fitting that tonight, then hope it stops raining !
