just at the point of renewing my back tyre again. managed to get 4300 miles out of a dunlop sport smart ,not bad considering the original tyre that came on the bike only managed 2000 miles before being worn out. so it is definatley worth the extra £20 for the sport smarts if i can get more than double the miles out of them.
I've heard some serious miles on these tyres also. I'm sure Remal has had descent millage from his and a few track days also. I've only managed around 500 miles on mine so far as I fitted mine late on on the season, but so far I'm more than impressed with the grip. If they last even 3000 miles for me I'll be over the moon.
i dont commute on my bike , i only use it for "progressive" i.e fast road riding over country roads. the sort you find in the yorkshire dales. they are pretty bumpy roads where the bike can spend a bit of time with the back wheel skimming the road surface. i.e jumping , braking hard ,accelerating hard up to 60mph (ahem!) i am sure if i did some commuting as well i would get even better mileage out of them ,they have never slid (unless on gravel) . to give you a clue of riding style ,i only got 4000 miles out of the original front tyre before it got down to the wear markers.
Im really surprised at the glowing reviews of the Sprt smarts on here! Ive not had dunlops for a long time because I never rated all the ones ive tried, been using everything since Metzelers, Avon and on the blades Pirelli and Bridgestones. I loved the Bridgestones 010 and 016 on my 97rrv. I really hate the Dunlops qualifier 2 I have on my new blade and cant wait to change. Should try the Sport Smarts you lot bang on about or should I stick to Bridgestones on my new blade. just need to make right choice as they are feckin expensive lol
I had 3 sets of bridgestone bt016's before changing to the sportsmarts. I won't be changing back, I'll buy another rear sportsmart during the winter months I'm that impressed.
Well Zip ... I have run the Sportsmart in a 55 profile on the rear first time on a two day Snetterton track day ......... fanbloodytastic But on the bike now are Pirelli Supercorsa SP ...... brilliant ....... again in the 55 profile . Best two tyres going in my humble opinion
Thanks for the feedback so far, Cant believe you guys arte swinging me round to a Brand I loathed. As long as hey perform well in the wet nasty stuff I might give them a whirl then.. Cheers a lot!
They're fine in the wet and cold. I was out today. 10 deg and patchy roads without even a slip. I might just be a woos though
you should try them, the dunlops of years gone by certainly were not the best which is why you probably have a bad perception of them
was thinking along the same lines as the last dunlop i had was seriously crap! been on the 2cts ever since but thinking i wouldn't mind a pair of the sportsmarts now but like you say not cheap so dont want to get stuck with something i cant get on with
