yeah , thats nothing to worry about at all. As Si has said, something like 100 ml, which in 2000 miles is very very acceptable i'd say. Mine never moved between oil changes but then i do them every 1500 anyway. i'm sure you'll just remember to chek the levels a little more frequenly now.
If only it wasn't such a bloody faf checking the level and topping up. All the older blades were so much easier.
You wanna see me putting me lid, gloves and man bag on after filling up, now that's a faf, then I have the "where's my keys, where's my phone...."! Known to all I ride with as the slug!
My 2006 blade does not use any oil . Do a few trackdays a year an fast road riding . Never have to top it up with oil . Got 11800 miles on it.
I still can not quite get to grips with why even some of the RR8 and beyond blades use oil but the older ones do not, they are still highly tuned sportsbikes, my 954 uses zero oil and that can not be called a '' commuter '', just what is with the newer blade engine that lends its self to the use of oil ?
How do you guys go about checking the oil. Do you do it when the bike has been standing overnight? Or as the manual says, start it up, let it reach normal operating temperature. Turn it off, let it sit 3-4 minutes & then check it? I get slightly different readings between the two methods, so just curious how everyone is doing it.
I try to do it after a ride, let it rest for 5 mins to cool down a bit then try and hold upright whilst sticking clean dipstick in. All this without dropping it too, lol
I'm surprised I'm this sharp, this time of night To keep this post relevant. I haven't had to add any oil as yet. Exactly the same point mines only done 2000 plus miles so early days. As to how I dip it, I unscrew the dipstick first, then put a piece of wood under the side stand so it's just over the Center of gravity. That's enough then to hold in place so I can check.
First two rules of sports bike ownership. Teach your spouse how to dip the sump and work the back half of a paddock stand.
