Well with the cold months approaching just wondering what plans people have for their bike over the winter months for me it's powder coating wheels and new tyres ( sportsmarts I think) and probably fitting a rad guard too
well i was hoping to buy a damaged repairable but i missed out on it. only 1 job on the blade is rear peg removal but my tuono,s coming to bits for new rubber, rear suspension grease up, valve clearance, dodgy immobiliser removal and general tidy up and few bits powdercoated. got to keep busy!!
No plans for the blade this winter but hoping to spend some with the RVF. Powder coat the wheels, clean up the swingarm and rear shock and a general going over. Untitled by (MrB), on Flickr
I've still got a few things to do over the winter on the bikes. For the blade I'm going to fit a different tail tidy and probably get a rear shock, and get the front kitted out. The blackbird is going to get a new set of hoops and the cct is starting to get a little noisier so I'll replace that. The SP1 is the bike I'll be spending most of my time on though. Which reminds me I'll need to update my build thread on that tomorrow.
I am going to try to strip the bike down, give it a bloody good clean and fit a few new trick bits that i have got lined up
very little planned for the bike, maybe some more carbon. most of my time and money will get spent on my car this time of year.
Got to sort my bashed up / held together with duct tape and cable ties 2008 Blade - it needs an ECU and lockset (or at least ECU and keys) and may be retired for track use as my current track bike has a buyer. Its absolutely filthy, needs total stripdown which will start mid November I think - got the Padgetts open day to attend on it in November.
Driving ban pending so I'll have an extra long winter! Plans are: Blade not much, change rearsets and brake lines CBR6 tracker, fit new fairnings, carbon air duct, get it in a crate on the way to Spain Since I'll be banned going to turn my daily ride in to a track fighter. Street triple track bike with a daytona rear end on it. It should be a handy wee tool for short twisty circuits like Knockhill.
Still trying to get mine running right. Deffo gonna change the engine for a painted one with better compression and gearbox. Changing wiring loom and hoping to sort my carb problems. May fit an Aprillia Tuono tail unit.
Here you go mate. I'll update it tonight with some more pics of the work I've done recently. http://1000rr.co.uk/lounge/6814.htm
The Blade with have a service & proper clean; it also needs a new rear tyre. I'm thinking about the Tenkate tank cover & some rearsets. The Thruxton is getting a set of TORs, new map, new shocks & new fork springs.
CBR is getting new chain and sprockets, HM Shifter, a quick check of the valve clearances, full de-grease of all the crud and re-grease of all the bearings. NC30 will hopefully be built and running by the new year, but that's a very looong term project TBH
Thinking off taking the forks out and letting KTech work their magic on them by fitting the road piston kit. Does anyone rate this upgrade as worth while? Steve
Its meant to be a great mod. Much tighter front end and more accurate adjustment. Im looking to do the same with the Track/race 20ssk piston and internal kit.
For me, a lot depends on the next couple Of weeks. If the 07 blade doesn't sell, then it will get stripped, shedloads o titanium thrown at it, but I engine work, steering damper, Quickshifter and a fresh set of clothes. If it sells, then it will be a ground up build of something new. In fact ill build something so fast that felix baumgartner will want a shot on it!
