i have been watching quite a few vids on you tube of track days in the novice groups and some are good but some are very busy and people seem to end up in a traffic jam situations, if i booked myself into the novice group are you allowed to change up to inters later in the day if you are fast enough ?

For me I got a so much more out of 1 trackday school day than I ever would have done out of 3 trackdays, but you're right the cost does put a lot of people off.

If the instructors notice you're much better than the novice group then they will possibly move you up (if they have space in the inters), but I wouldn't have thought they'd be likely do that with a first-timer.

Ah, right. Thought you were expecting to go out and show Casey Stoner up on your first go! :)

if there is room in the inters you should not have a issue. but Inters get booked up more than novices very often. So again often easier to go down then up

I wouldn't get too hung up on the groups.

Last year I booked Brands GP late and could only get in novice when I normally run in fast. Other than having to sit though the extended briefing I still had fun.

You are unlikely to be the fastest or slowest in which ever group your in. The rules are the same for everyone just ride at a pace your comfortable with and respect those around you when making passes.

For me inters is the worst group to be in. Always the busiest and with the most slow people who think they're fast and fast people who for a number of reasons don't want to move up to fast. Also usually the most red flags.

In my opinion a Blade should not be in the novice group as your straight line pace will be too fast and negotiating slower bikes is a dangerous hazard. Intermediate group and run at the rear!

I think the organisers check your Blade at registration: Repsols go in the novice group, Black blades in the Fast group.

I won't be doing as many TD's next year as all my money will be going on entry fee's for race meetings!

Saying that though If a few of you guys plan on doing Cadwell it would be rude not to.. As I'm 2 mins away lol.

As for CSS, complete and utter tripe. Riding around not using your brakes whilst flapping your elbows like a chicken doesn't help at all.

Best off spending the money on TD's with a reputable TDO that doesn't charge for instruction. No Limits & Easytrack are
Most definitely the best for this!

240 for entries, pretty much already got half a seasons worth of tyres, so for entries &
Fuel plus food etc its around 500 a round.

Matt, I'm back on here now mate so you guys will be in the loop. May even get a 'club 64' fundraising thread...

I'd love to do a TD in 2013 but I have a couple of concerns having never done one - 1) cost (i.e. in total? track day, insurance, would I need new tyres etc. etc.); 2) not being particularly confident (i.e. chicken). I'd be more likely to go if I knew someone there but I'm the only biker I know (locally). Donnington would be good for me too.

agree go with people you know or people like us from a forum, always there to lend a hand. take your time and enjoy. it's not a race, your not expected to hit every apex or any at all. Not expected to keep up with anyone. Just go, ride and enjoy
