Howdy all, I recently had to replace my gearshift drum bearing, seal and shift shaft after the roller bearing had sh*t itself.
My consensus is the last owner power washed the life out of it cos the front wheel bearings were on their last legs too.

Now that it's all back together it is much better at selecting gears but I find that on occasion I get false neutrals.

My question is has anyone done this mod? And will it fix my problem? Cos it's an expensive peice of metal!

Sorry I'm asking a question about a mod that I was thinking about doing.
If its in the wrong section sorry!

I have a racer friend who is giving me a quick shifter but if that doesn't solve it I'm going to invest in this.
    Thanks nutty!

    I fully recommend it!!!

(I have actually hit one false neutral on a very lazy shift, but just that once!!)

    A thousand times better shifting!!

Never had a false neutral but the 954 is notorious for the shift rod flexing and wearing the cogs, especially 4th for some reason. The shift is quite agricultural anyway and I'm assured by those far more knowledgeable than myself that the support will ease matters. Not much money for an easy and worthwhile mod.

Yup .. I looked closely at the gear rod while shifting gears (on a paddock stand ... not while riding it :).. )

and you could see it flexing

Ditto, bought one and fitted it to my 954 (which is famous or infamous ! For having a very long shaft), it really does support the shifting and does feel a tad smoother, i have never had an issue with it and the reason it is so expensive is obvious when you open the packet and see it. Quality gear like this is never cheap.

Hot from the Royal Mail, my new Bling.

Can it still be Bling if it's purpose is purely functional? Because I'm tempted to not fit it and just keep it to look at.

Fresh from Calsport. Only ordered yesterday, midday. 4 quid cheaper than the average search price and that included postage. What else is there to say.

Expect another one of my long winded and exacting in nature mod threads dreckly everyone.

Lovely bit of kit..... when i mentioned to one of my associates who also rides a bike that i had this mod and rated it highly.... his first words when told the price were along the lines of '' but you could buy some really smart gear for that price '' , i took this to mean i could have purchased some coloured nuts and bolts or maybe even an iridium screen with matching rainbow stickers for my tank !!! As i have said previously, you can lead a horse to water but you can not make it drink !
