big problem you will have is plastic tank cover = cannot use magnetic bag!

I can lend you a baglux cover and large bag to try for size - it expands but when you do that its too big to ride with.

Know you are bringing pillion - my 'not exactly small' ventura system has an optional extra 35 litre bag I could attach with your stuff - just an idea and least I can do after all the photos you have taken.

Barney. Not sure if this one can be converted for sports bike use but its got to be worth investigating.

I had a look online earlier, the ones i saw for a 2012 were imo to small for Barneys needs? however am i mistaken that i read somewhere here that someone had indeed added some metal to the inside of the tank cover fixing it with silicone or similar so the magnetic baglux would work ok?

I know JimboVills has a cracking setup on his R1. Where an adapter plate bolts onto the filler cap via the screws, and the the tank bag clips into it. It doesn't even touch the tank and is a really good bit of kit. If you change your bike all you need is the adapter plate to suit that bike.

Same system, different bag though. They do a few to suit all needs, I have this one GIVI T489 Easylock Expandable Tankbag 14-18L - Chainspeed Ltd

Slightly bigger than I'd want but I normally navigate away so needed the map section.

Can't fault it, as Colin says, it's awesome as so easy to fit and sits rigid off the tank so no damage, also the fitting plate is £10 for different bikes so easily adaptable.

Only word of warning, if you have a hrc filler sticker, this will make the supplied bolts too short as it raises everything a few mm.

Here ya go barney this is how it sits on the bike

Can't help but think it would be a little small for 3 days of kit though. Can the missus take a rucksack with just the clothes in it? That way the camera and lenses could go in the tank bag.?

I have been looking at luggage carriers as well etc since booking on the Scotland trip, while doing nothing sat round the pool, I have decided to go with the Ventura system with all the brilliant feedback, bloody expensive £290, but as I plan to do European trips as well (once Gary b pulls his finger out lol) as well as the Scotland trip .I went for the Ventura Mistal bag which is 47 litre which you can add another to if you want to take the washing machine,it's simple to remove the bag from the Ventura rack , and it does not slide around meaning no bungee straps needed and does not
damage paintwork.I am sure there are loads but this seemed to show up the most feedback online .
