So my younger brother who has been riding a year longer than me (18months total) was itching to upgrade his ZX6R having ridden both my RR7 and RR9 I now have so..... He only went out and got himself a Rossi replica big bang R1! So seeing as we keep our bikes garaged together, it's a choice between the R1 and RR9 on any given good biking weather day! Now I gotta say that's a good turn of events having wanted a bike for years and only just getting my licence in April this year
It never ever gets old going and opening up that door! Just need to make sure I don't park too far away that I skip to the door lol
Might I add.... She's also fitted with carbon akrapovic's, Pazzo levers and Gilles rearsets (expensive version). The 3 power modes are interesting.... you get low down vtwin power delivery with hardly any engine breaking (B mode), Sharper throttle and harsher engine breaking (std mode) and then full power twitchy, extreme engine breaking, back end kicking (A mode). We've agreed the Fireblade's power delivery is much more progressive and builds up to the rev limiter predictably whereas the R1 just seems to vibrate and punch. It doesn't feel as fast when accelerating hard but it goes hard and in a completely different way! The R1 has the grin factor all over and is so much fun to ride, an experience each and every time but the Fireblade is far easier, far smoother and ultimately gives you a confidence you will never gain from the R1. I will like them equally for their differences....
Looks top and a good comparison .Looks like the R1s indicators are now dated and perhaps some flush fronts and a combined unit in the tail light would sharpen it up, quickly followed by the rear peg removal. I have had 3 R1s and you can't knock them but i think the blade has the edge.
Thanks mate. He's fitted the smaller number plate and sleek rear carbon indicators and has the fronts ready to fit ASAP. I think the wing mirrors looked dated as they are the same as my RR7 ones. I actually think the slightly bigger new style with the light and indicators built in are the way to go for all bikes
The best part of my drive home is walking up the drive and lifting that door up. It always cheers me up.
I struggle not to get really excited and dribble when I'm putting my leathers on.... Sometimes I walk out the door half dressed tripping over my flapping boots in eagerness
I've got those Sidi's with the front and back that come together so when you go down you go down hard and it hurts.... When I first got them and was getting used to them I was very good at selecting first gear and getting my leg dragged down the drive by the bike. They seemed to be able to catch on anything that remotely stuck out
I've got some ancient Belstaff Scramblers with 6 buckles and the shin armour on my leathers means they're either tourniquet tight or undone.
