Well the whole selling up idea has gone wrong as I have decided to stick something in the garage to play with now and again, its been a life long ambition to own an Italian sports bike and with Arthur being the devil on my shoulder, amongst others may I introduce my Ducati 1098S I will be looking to keep it company with a blade track bike next year once mrs Jamie calms down
Ha ha, love it mate... and why not... a million miles away from the blade but best if you've got two that they are far from the same.... good on you I'm glad it lives up to they hype.. a mega bike to ride with MASSIVE grunt makes a blade feel a little gutless hey....lol service costs are no more than a Honda other than belts each two years or 7500 miles around 150 pair fitted
Was going to be because I didn't use it, lost some mates etc.... But I couldn't do it I love having the bike in the garage it's a release when things get to much, it just makes me happy I guess. The blade is and was fantastic, but I just fancied a change, if I don't like it I can always try something else or get another blade. But if today is anything to go by I love it lol
If it's what makes the pressures of things pass, then it doesn't matter what any of us ride mate. So long as it makes us happy. Really glad you found something to take out on the open roads again.
Agree, and I love the fact the forum has so many open minded nice folk that love all things two wheels... and that's what make me tick "two wheels"... It's my life long ball and chain....lol
It's amazing tbh it's feels so light and the Ohlins seem to soak up the majority of bumps etc very well, corners are gone without any real thought and the harder you push (not very so far) the better it responds It's not perfect the blade is far superior around town, the dry clutch is a little grabby and judders at low revs and you are in first a lot as it does not want to move along below 30 but saying that its not that bad just something to adjust too, Arthur has already pointed out a way to reduce this by dropping a tooth on the front cog which is cheap and should help. The sound is truly epic, the termi exhaust just sing as you go through the gears I love just looking at it lol the back swing arm and wheel are more like an art master class, and I now need to spend a week learning how the dash works lol but first impressions are excellent Although I will miss my blade it was a fantastic bike, I just fancied something different.
What a stunning bike mate, I just love any bike with a single swing arm. See a tri colour that got my juices flowing recently, people are going to hate me when I say I prefer the look of these to the 1199. Who cares its snatchy round town, Its two wheels, it's lush, Blade or not.
Quality Jamie... So pleased you have managed to realise a big ambition and yet it still lives up to expectations!! Just remember us poor old jap owners when you get new exotic owning fancy friends lol Oh and bike looks awesome....
Nice one Jamie. I really really like the 1098S, my mate Darek has a very tricked up red one that just looks so gorgeous, and when he starts it up, it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I meet him earlier in the year for coffee in the square at Bedford before a whiz down to Silverstone. He arrived first and when I rolled up said he loved the sound of my non baffled Akro coming down the high street, the sound bouncing of the shop fronts etc. But when he started his 1098 up it made mine sound like a C90 in comparison. It actually made a small child cry. Full Termi race pipes and cans produce an incredible sound. I have ridden his and it is so different to a blade. Ok, he has his chipped and lovingly stroked but as Arthur mentioned the sheer Grunt in something else. I am sure I have seen that one advertised somewhere, was it on Ebay? If I am honest I am not keen on your colour scheme and all the stickers but each to his own. You going to love it Jamie. Its just going to take a while to get used to its highly strung nature, a bit like my Spanish ex wife really, a bit of nightmare to live with but all worth it when you got to ride her at the weekend.
Very nice Jamie, i do have a soft spot for 10/1198 all most got one my self but went to the other side of the Italian bikes A guy that we ride with has also got a Bayliss rep with 70mm full termi system and like you say the sound is something else All the best and enjoy !!!
FOC it was on eBay ended up doing a swap with him for the Ducati Lol about your Ex Also not massively keen on the bodywork but I like it will keep an eye out for a red set on eBay as I would like it plain again, but I'm not to upset the Bayliss job looks fab Thanks for all the kind comments guys
You bastard! Seriously though. I love 'em. The irritating quirkiness and "mutant only" ergonomics of the things are instantly forgotten when you see that road open out ahead of you and you "bring the thunder". I laughed reading your description of it as despite mine being a stone age precursor of what you have there, with a quarter of the technology and development, it sounds as if their manners when outside of their raison d'etre are identical. Transmission shunt, over fuelling, no suitable ratio for UK town speeds, nothing seems to have changed. I love that. It's so Italian to think that while everybody else develops the glitches out of the systems, the Italians just concentrate on how good you'll look at 130 mph. Did I say, bastard? good.
Ken, that made me laugh, the italians obviously feel they know what is the right way to build a superbike and will not be swayed into anything other than that ! although if they can make me look good at 130 they are more than mere mortals they are gods lol I will get used to it's quirkyness, the blade has pampered me far to much lol and you right I am a big Bastard lol But ...... a very happy one
