I once explained it to somebody thus: An Italian designer will draw something beautiful. Management will approve it for production. Production will start to build it....and promptly call the designer and say... There's no place for the engine. Or the rider. Or the controls. Or the lights. Etc. etc. But rather than redesign the original (Italian, remember), he just puts mounting points on his first drawing. And that's how we get Ducatis, Aprilias, Ferraris, Armani clothes, Alfa Romeos.....and so on and so on.
Jamie you lucky dog ! shes a beauty pal...... what yr ? it was never going to be a plain Jayne model was it !! lol
2007 Rob, glad you approve matey Its not all bling ! I spotted a normal ty wrap on the bike when I got back yesterday, I am still a man of the people ! this bike won't change me Mmmmm off to look at more carbon lol and learn how to pronounce marchesini and termignoni so I can fit in Suprised I have not been asked to leave the forum yet, traitor that I am !! Ken ? not going to take this golden opertunity
I'm still a man of the people? From a man whose signature used to look like an Tiffany's purchase ledger.
Nice one! My mate used to let me ride his 1098s lots, and whilst I dont think I would ever own one, they are immense fun, constantly cajoling you to overtake with their stupendous torque...... I f&%$ing loved it, and never thought I would... but to own one I'd have to have another more "rounded" bike as an alternative. Speaking of which, my mates 1098s is STILL for sale in Fowlers, having been sat there over a year now! They keep dropping the price (its now marked up for LESS than they gave him for it!!!) but seems no one is interested in a bog-stock 1098s in Ducati Red......
Just meant you were getting an impressive list going in your signatures to match the also impressive bikes, taking up the challenge on the bling stakes so to speak
Jamie, tremendous looking bike, I missed out on one exactly the same apart from no termi's. Iv'e hankered for one of these since they came out and might have a sniff of a red 2008 one with termi's. The only niggle I have is the tank range, fuelling up every 90-100 miles is no idea of fun for me, but one day it might be an itch that needs scratching. Let us know how you get on!!
cant comment on the range just but filled it up when the light came on and it only took 10 litres apparently its a 14.5 tank so range must be compromised once you start to use the bike in the dry. Will keep you posted
I've got to admit Jamie, I'm loving the way the v-twin works on the road. Yes it feels a bit agricultural compared to the likes of the blade, but the torque and sound of a V-twin is something everyone has to try at some point. I quite fancy the 998 as a bit of a challenge at some point.
1 of my friends has a 1098 (along with mv f4, gsxr1100 and a Vespa) when I follow the duke in towns I have to just look at my rev counter to make sure my bike is running all I can hear is the Italian thunder! Lovely bike by the way I want 1!!!
nice ride you got there. was going to get my duke done them colours when I had it,very nice. drop the gearing slightly and that helps a lot around the town but you just have to get used to not going above 2nd gear below 60mph lol. oh and for tank range......spank it on and you get around 65-80 miles per tank.
