Just said bye for seven months to my little brother, he's off to afgan for his first tour. It's a really strange feeling as although I'm really proud of him I still think of him as my little brother.
It will be odd not speaking to him for such a long time.

What makes it worse, poor bloke has been sent too an American base by himself so doesn't know anyone and will feel a bit out of place to start with.

He's thinking about doing his bike test when home though so summer should be fun :D

Look on the bright side Martin. Better rations, lot's more toys, and their body armour doesn't need to be supplemented by sticking corn flake boxes up their jumpers. Get him to set himself up on here so we can all chat to him. Bugger, I spend more time talking to you lot than I do my own family.

Unfortunatley he is in British uniform so if you could save up cornflake boxes :)
Apparently they eat stuff like steak in the US base not the slop as he called it in GB camps

One thing I will say about our current 'osprey CBA' is that it is now amongst (if not) the best in the world, along with the latest Helmet and ballistic shorts.

There has been a lot of money spent developing all our personal protective equipment for Afghan.

The yanks will make him feel at home as they love us Brits.

I wish him all the best mate, its hard to go but harder for those left behind worrying about them, meanwhile he will be having a great time.

Agreed osprey kit is awesome compared to the crap I had in Iraq !

He is based up in York so won't catch up properly for a few weeks but any decent story's I shall share with you lot
