Welllll ... I can't think that the lack of wind and road resistance would be an issue .. If you think about it the rolling radius of the tyre and gearing (15/44) is a known quantity . For any given revolution of the engine the tyre will roll forward a known distance which will then be displayed as speed .
Wind and road resistance would only be an issue to top speed attained .. obviously without any on the dyno the theoretical top speed would be much higher .
    IMHO

With the 15/44 gearing combo vmax on paper is as follows:
    1st 81mph
    2nd 104mph
    3rd 123mph
    4th 131mph
    5th 152mph
    6th 163mph

With stock gearing vmax on paper is:
    1st 90mph
    2nd 116mph
    3rd 138mph
    4th 146mph
    5th 170mph
    6th 182mph....

And I've plugged in the max rpm + primary and gear ratio data as publicised by Honda, plugged in my tyres size and final drive ratio (15/44 for me) - presto out pops the theoretical data...not taking into account wind direction, atmospheric conditions, weight of rider blah blah blah....

I had to hunt around to find the primary ratio - it's 1.717...
stock gearbox ratios are as follows:
    1st 32/14
    2nd 32/18
    3rd 33/22
    4th 34/22
    5th 34/28
    6th 33/29

interestingly if I'd had a 190/55 tyre fitted (as I'd bleedin wanted), then vmax in 6th would have been 168mph with my 15/44 combo...

i took mine for a run tonight with my new sprocket (+2 rear) and it didn't feel much different in acceleration. could tell the speedo is slightly higher though a saw a figure with the numbers 1 6 and 8 in it and it didn't feel as quick as that.

just used that link and mine comes out at 177 with rev limit of 13250 with the 44t sprocket and 55 tyre

standard gearing with a 50 section tyre comes out at 180

As you say " not much difference in acceleration " ... the tyre almost cancels out the sprocket . Thats a handy little calculator to keep a link to .

I shall be checking out the accuracy of my speedo at the ARD meet on Sunday as its the long track ... :high5:

Ive' gone the other way and just left it as it is. When ive messed it the past it tended to lurch into corners and you were always trying to work out speed and correcting this and that .So for my riding which is fast road i just wack it open and it seems plenty fast.
