Okay, at the risk of getting into another oo er missus, ping pong, double entendre match with Giveover a la 'Wet Wipes' and of having Flatstick rip the kidney juice out of me for being a suthen shandy drinker for not using battery acid and brillo pads. Is there anything out there that you, my peers, would recommend for stopping mirrors from misting up now the autumn nights are starting to blow up our cuffs. Just got home from the Paignton bike night with a nice cosy nip in the air (yes, oo er. Giv') and on a warning from AndyBow was watching out for our blue clad protectors and they could have been beside me for all I could see in the mirrors. I thought they might clear once the air started to flow over them, but no dice. Anyone tried anything they'd care to recommend.
I have to be honest, i have never had this problem, ever. Maybe some of that anti fog stuff for visors?
I got to Agree but never had this issue either. Rain x works well or glass polish. Used both and always had a nice clean rear view. Owwwe errrr
Cheers mate, I've got some Rain X in the garage. My mate just text me to let me know he got home okay and I asked him if it happened to him too and he reckons it's sea spray! We were parked against the sea wall and there was an onshore South Easterly (see, I can do meteri... meteorl...met... I know what the weather's like too). So now I'm a bit worried and wondering what my neighbours would think if I go out and wash the bike now.
I use 'Showroom Shine' on my bike and my mirrors . Never ever had them fog over . I recon yur just breathing heavy ..
The way some of those nutters were coming past me on the A380 tonight, Nutty, you may well be right, and I was doing exactly 70mph, too!
Oh my, yes. And I was doing exactly 60 in the designated national speed limit areas of the single carriage way parts and exactly 20, 30 and 40 in the signposted built up areas. I'm amazed it only took me 20 minutes to get home.
Glad to hear it :yes4: ... you know its funny how riding a Blade appears to bend time n space ... one minute yur miles from home ............ then oooops here I am ... home already .. :sarcastic:
I once tried rubbing a potato skin on the inside of my visor and surprise surprise it didn't work .Might try an onion or perhaps one of them stew packs !
Just don't use rain x on plastic as it will fog the plastic at some point. also try this stuff works well on plastic if you need to
Cheers Remal. I looked this morning when I got the car out and it's still there so it's definitely salt spray, so now I'm going to fixate all day until I can get home and drench the bike in snow foam. Captain paranoia's sat on my shoulder showing me pictures of pile of Aluminium oxide on the garage floor. LOL
Ahh another who enjoys a good snow foam. Only got mine last year. Great fun. even better when the wifes around the car at the time also cheers Matt
You're so right, it's the bollocks in'it. I feel like a ghostbuster when I'm using it. I wouldn't usually use it on the bike, but in this instance, it's ability to get into all the nooks and cranny's should help put my mind at ease a bit more. It's a shame that it's spoiled a great little evening ride out. The Esplanade at Paignton must have been three quarters full of bikes, two rows, parked end on, hundreds of them. And it's like that every Wednesday, brilliant.
I've never had this problem. I occassionally chuck some Mr Sheen in the general direction of my mirrors, but normally just wipe them with a rag.
doesn't washing up liquid solution stop your visor from misting? maybe it would work on the mirrors too? I've never had this problem tbh
Issue solved. It wasn't mist it was sea spray. I've snow foamed and rinsed the bike and got the majority of it off. I can still see a bloom of it on the can and aluminium parts so that will be my Saturday sorted then. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions though, but a false alarm in the end.
