Finally after no one wanting to swop my race battery I've decided to fit it to the bike. Fcuk me the difference between the laboured starting power of my standard battery compared to the race battery is noticeable. The difference in the weight is also noticeable. Just have to find a way to pack the battery compartment to secure the battery now.
Also fitted my gi pro gear indicator aswell. Found it quite easy to fit and set up. Even for me who only has a hammer and a Phillips screwdriver. Just leaves me over the winter to fit my renthal grips, front led indicators and a couple of other mods that the wife doesn't know about. Main one this winter is a quickshifter.

How long do the race batteries last then before they go flat and how much weight do you save with 1 of them.

p.s very jealous of the quick shifter

Think it's a third of the weight. Not sure on charge, the bike should charge it as normal. I know it can sit for two years and still have 70% power still left.

I didn't bother packing mine in as it's plenty secure with just the strap

Glad you found the Gi Pro was easy to fit, I've got mine to fit and set up tomorrow. I take it you don't have to take the tank off completely?? I've found the red plug to connect to as I've got that part of the bike in bits after removing the pillion footrests and I put the sub-frame back together last night. TBH after reading in here about this job and dreading it, in the end it was piss easy to do, so anyone who fears it, just go for it, it's straight forward.

I've an 05 blade mate. My red plug was behind the left hand side fairing. I ran the cable up under edge of the tank and cable tied up behind the cluster. It sits on the left hand side of cluster. Put it on paddock stand and taught it gears. Got it right on my second attempt.

i bought my battery from a good friend of mine, he bought it for his road race bike and has now decided to give up racing. It was never fitted. Got it for a good price and a pint.

Yes the GiPro was fitted this afternoon on my 09 Blade. Easy enough to do and mounted it on the left side of the instrument cluster. Tied the cable to the loom the runs around the left fork leg, then up over the air box, slotted down the side of a connector on the airbox top, through the cable stay at the rear of the air box, down and through up to the battery box entering on the left side, cable all tied in nicely.

Only when I got to the red connector the fit was tight as fook in the battery box and thought maybe I should have come in from the right side and straight onto the red connector. Now it sits with the GiPro connector facing down into the red one and wedged tight between the battery. Started the bike up, ran setup 1 through to 6 then O, job done. Went for a quick blast and well impressed, works a treat. Well recomended.
