As some of you know, i have my own business ( with my brother) and for the last 5 years we where renting a property (paying over the odds like you do) and had a nightmare with the landlord. He was not paying the bills, and not paying off the Mortgage on our property, bad debts against the property from years ago. and on several occasions, we had the bailiffs in. After toing and frowing for 5 years with bent companies and debt companies chasing him, the landlords empire went into receivership ( around £1 million of debts apparently) early this year. We put in an offer for the building, but got refused as the offer was too low according to the bank. However, his properties went to auction in October just gone, and We have finally bought the shop at a far lower price than we initially thought, as it needs a bit of TLC on the outside, and my bro and i did our best to put prospective buyers off. I went to the bank this morning for a loan to buy, and got the approval! So, finally, the shop is ours, and in some way can give me a small pension later on in rental. I shall be a bit skint for the next 5 years or so though….. So, lads and ladettes, i shall raise a glass or 6 tonight, in the relief that we can still carry on with our work and continue to employ the staff, with a more secure future for us all. And, about fookin time! Cheers!
It is mate. I've been stressed to fook the last 6 mths wondering if we where going to be turfed out by a prospective new owner, more costs to start again etc…. Now, i'll have sleepless nights about repaying the loan….
excellent news mate, the way things are at the moment, to have the banks get on board and get behind small business' is great news for both you and your family and the staff you employ. A bit of financial security certainly helps you sleep easier at night, enjoy the Merlot...........
