I agree Si, at first glance it does look exspensive, but given the other option which is down to Dover/Folkstone drive through France what some 700miles toll roads fuel etc, and i think you would still need a night off somewhere? i think it may break around even, given the fact i'll be larging it up with a nice comfey bed rather than riding saving my energy for the awsome route to Andorra :D, if the times were better, i.e getting to spain in the morning rather than the evening it would perhaps appeal even more so, but you hit the nail mate europe trips worth every penny, :)

Read this with interest - I think the 'cheap' route to Spain is as follows:

Night boat from Portsmouth to Le Harve or Cean
Ride down mixture of D roads or peage to the French side of the Pyrenees for overnight - into Spain the next morning.
Yes more miles, tolls / food etc. but you just have to plan your D road route to avoidgoing through large towns.

Camping does make trips dirt cheap but when I see what Si paid for his hotels its not worth it, but I've never managed to find them that cheap.

For me down on the Fri or Thursday night boat and home the following Sunday is ideal - the Sat night overnight ferry to Portsmouth works well, but its all options.

Cannot see it being possible to do a trip for £500 with fuel prices as they are now - just depends where you end up I guess / miles / tolls etc.

just an update, adding this to my first thread.

On the advice of a few members, just thought I’d put a little something together just so anyone looking and thinking about this trip has a rough idea of routes etc,
What I’m trying too achieve is having an adventure rather than a guided tour.

On a foot note, thanks to Alblade and thefirebloke who’s routes and ideas I shall be shamelessly stealing and putting my name to them ;)

    Day 1 Friday 06/09/13
Meet up with others? along the way, travelling to Portsmouth, depart 17.00hrs on the 24hr ferry to Santander.

    Day 2 Saturday 07/09/13
Arrive Santander approximately 17.30hrs local time, Travel a short distance to Pamplona for the second nights accommodation.

    Day 3 Sunday 08/09/13
After breakfast a good run ahead of us as we set off to do what we came for? The N-240 and N-260.

    Day 4 Monday 09/09/13
    Route TBA

    Day 5 Tuesday 10/09/13
    Route TBA

    Day 6 Wednesday 11/09/13
    Route TBA

    Day 7 Thursday 12/09/13
    Route TBA

    Day 8 Friday 13/09/13
    Route TBA

    Day 9 Saturday 14/09/13
    Route TBA

    Day 10 Sunday !5/09/13
An over night stay in San Sebastian, which I have on good recommendation that this place rocks, a perfect location to reminisce on our time had.

    Day 11 Monday 16/09/13
A lazy morning around the town of San Sebastian , picking up the last few gifts perhaps for our other halves to which we owe, for allowing us this adventure.
After lunch a short ride “should be sober by then” back to Santander where we will set sail at 15.15hrs for the 24hr crossing back to the UK

    Day 12 Tuesday 17/09/13
Arrive dock side Portsmouth at approximately 14.15hrs and head home to our loved ones with the expectations of a mouth bath ;)

Do you see how I dodged the days by just putting TBA on the days we are there? that’s where the where the music takes us comment earlier in the thread comes from, there is only six days to fill, half the time has been taken already, with some fantastic roads and that’s just getting there. There are some good routes around whether it be a full day or a half day riding to fill the time with
Here’s an idea of what we can expect to get up to whilst in the neighbourhood.
Shamelessly stolen from Alblade. Thank you

We do it on £500 every year thou we only do 7 days and we stay at biker B&B's which are very basis but do what they say on the tin. A luxury biker holiday, what's one of them?

Given the amount of time we have available for traveling round, and making the best of our time, I too have spent the odd hour today sourcing biker friendly B&B's which could be suitable for our trip? if you would be as kind to post up links details of these places you have visited so I can have a look to see if I can use any of them? That would be most appreciated.

Don't get me wrong Gary the trip you are organising is great its just that I can't afford that kind of expanse on a biking hol, if I could I'd have my name down straight away. The Honda club have just had a 12 day trip to Austria which cost £2300 so your £1500 is good value, if I spent that kind of money on a bike trip my misses would chop my nuts off and give them the dog.

Hi Bardo, I wasn't in any way disputing your claims by asking for the B&B's you use, nor am i insinuating that the trip is For paupers or the like.
For anyone reading these threads its just good honest basic information that individuals can take away and use it to their advantage and what suits their requirements It's always handy to have other options available when traveling Should a back up plan be needed, all plans lay to waste if things go tits up, and any information pertaining to any European trip experienced and a few extra places dotted around that are recomended are always welcome.
It isn't evident in this thread, but when I first posted I am adamant I'm doing this baby with or without company. To give me the freedom of choice I too have and will consider camping etc.
Without wanting to sound disparaging, we dont all have endless resources that we can call upon, Seriously, Get a thread started, I don't know? something like Europe on a budget.

If you booked a villa for a week it would bring the cost down. Would need numbers though.

Just fed my guilty pleasure, aftersitting through 2hrs of Alblades footage around the Pyrenees, I feel I have quenched my thirst for now.

Barney 1 I know it's a long way off mate, but you wouldn't start a countdown for me would you.

It does feel like years Steve I agree, I've been itching to book the ferry this past week. When that's booked, I know it's a go.
Is it so wrong to look forwards to something so much?
It reminds riding my bike over the fens of lincolnshire to the then girl of the week when I was a lad.
My uncle always used to say about me that a fanny could draw me further than dynamite could blow me ;)

Edit. Thank you Barney. Only 10 months then ;)

If you wish to post your motorcycle porn through my door for christmas?
