Is anybody else finding that their boots are rubbing the finish off the frame. 2012 blade, I'm not too happy about it, or is it inevitable?
No can't say I have, how many miles have you done and what boots have you got. I had the same issue with my Suzuki GSX-R which was to be expected and perhaps am conscious of it so may be more careful where my feet are positioned ?
Mine started to mark, but came out with a clean. I put some frame protectors on to stop the paint rubbing.
Only my right side as that heel guard is just too small!! I put left over protector from the seat cowl and covered it with an Arai sticker.
Same issue myself, left gear change side and somehow knee height as well. Got some Oxford clear protector on the frame in various places now. Seen loads of blades with the same problem.
Ha, are you stalking me J, I'll have to dig a photo out but I had that exact same sticker in that exact same place for the exact same reason. You're not my long lost twin are you?
Dragging this back up i have noticed the same on mine today, really didnt think the paint would rub off that quick and easy. Where's the best place to get those clear protectors chaps ???
You're in Sussex.... P&h sell the Oxford clear film on a roll for £20 odd quid. More than enough in there for all little areas. So, apart from swing arm heel area, where else are folks getting this issue then. Where should we be adding bits of tape just in case?
Like i said in another thread. i use the soft side of velcro stuck to the heel of my boots... It's the only way i can stop the swingarm scratching...O.therwise, you have to stick something on the swingarm. Either way, it shouldn't happen but the design is already done. Bummer. My frame was starting to mark too ( It rubbed off, but it was only a matter of time it was permanent), on the gear lever side, that's why i put carbon frame covers on.
It is frustrating in the same way as you only have to look at the black tank on the 2012 and it's marked. But these little signs of use don't bother me that much and I do like to keep my bike looking it's best but if this happens through my enjoyment of the bike then so be it.
I agree with one of the above comments, the general wear and tear of using the bike is to be expected, stone chips are a perfect example, most riders get really annoyed if a bike has them............ well if you ride it, you will get them ! The same is true of some of the wear issues mentioned, i would add some of the carbon frame protectors (where your knees would go) but thats also because i think they look really good as well as providing a good way to protect the frame. But lets face it, if you bought a bike to ride then a certain amount of wear and tear is to be expected, if not.... then its on stands and in the living room with all the fluids removed for the rest of its ownership.
Well I put an alpinestars sticker on my swing arm today, it'll do the job and don't look to bad either.
My Arai sticker has a big hole in it in the middle, after about 2 months of riding daily. But that is why I put the ventureshield thingy under the Arai sticker!!!!
