Hi , we'll I'm back home early and its not the best news , The treatment I've been having has not worked and its not going to work , I'm not going to go into every detail but that's that , the myeloid leukaemia I have is here to stay , my nan , grandad and mother all had it , my mother fought it for 15 or so years , so it's just something I'm going to have to live with , I'm going to start to take a drug called imatinib ( GLIVEC ) this is supposed to keep everything under control . Imatinib is a type of treatment called a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It works by blocking (inhibiting) signals within the leukaemia or cancer cell that make them grow and divide. Blocking the signals makes the cells die, so that's it really a shit couple of months and a even worse afternoon , There's loads more I could say but it's just not worth it and to be honest I'm not in the mood , the one thing that pisses me off is I feel good , I sort of look ok (no funny jokes ken , giv , Gary si , ha ha lol ) but I suppose that's life , Anyway before I go I would like to say a massive , huge thank you to everyone who's left a message, text , voicemail I can't thank you enough , I've said it before and I'll say it again this forum is the best , you make it the best , it's nice to have friends like you lot and half I've never had the chance of meeting , So thanks again for the support , and thanks to my wife and kids (sorry) Barney , Steve , dad x

Barney, the reason we support you and look forward to your posts isn't because we feel sorry for you , it's because you're a top, top bloke mate. You take the time to follow us around and catch the moment for all of us doing what we love most. You get yourself on that bike next year mate and grab yourself some quality time riding with us.
Keep that chin up mate. No matter what you will always have your friends and family around you to to keep your spirits up. It's never fair when things like this happen, but as you say it's best just to get on with it and enjoy the times you have together.
Well Steve. You've managed to prove, again, that you're up to the task of staring this thing in the face and spitting in its eye. This is another line in the sand for you draw and I'm pretty convinced you're the kind of geezer that can draw a fairly deep line. I don't do platitudes. They always taste bad as I say them and I believe they do the person saying them more good Than they do the receiver, despite the intent. Enough to say, we're behind you and yours, to a man, I'm sure. And that I've seen your picture from the great north run and you're fooling yourself if you think that's looking good. What can I say Barney? That my boy certainly isn't the outcome we had all wished for you. The best thing we can hope now is the drugs you have to take, work the way they should, and they give you the quality And length of life you deserve. This is a heavy burden to carry alone, and I'm sure I can speak on behalf of everyone that has met you, yeah you may well be down mate, but by no means are you out, keep fighting Barney! And if you ever feel the need for an off load? You know where we are. Now Get your arse down to that Honda Dealer and get your bike picked up, it will be good for the mind and soul!
I dont know you personally like some of these guys and gals on here, but what does come across on this forum is the good nature and top people on here. I say, The important thing is you feel good! thats what counts mate! I look forward to one day meeting you and please add me to your list of Forum friends, friends and family make the world go round so let me add myself to your list!
I really thought there would be better news and did not even consider that there would be a slight negative so i am gob smacked . Of course its easy to say but as i only look'' one way ''keep getting whatever treatment you can, try to front it up you are a good human being so with new technology things may take a quick turn for the better .Start to put some extra effort in living ''''your life as you want to and enjoy your Wife family and mates .Catch you soon dude.
Hi Barney I can only echo what everyone else has said your a top Bloke ,and with a strong network of family and friends around you to help you with your fight , your mum fought it for many many years so I am sure you will as well . Now go and get that blade and a pair of leathers that fit ready for the Scotland trip

Really sorry to hear about the bad news Barney, I really hope they can mix you up a good cocktail of drugs to keep feeling normal. As people have said mate get yourself out on that bike and enjoy yourself! I forget a lot of my troubles when on a good blast you can really empty your mind, obviously my problems are very small compared to yours but I'm sure you will find it helps. Your a top bloke mate, just keep fighting and put some miles on that blade!
