I purchased one of these stands off ebay at £173 and it is an amazing piece of kit. It arrived within a couple of days and took about half an hour to build and set up so it slots in smoothly. After some butterflies in my stomach trusting this stand lifting up my pride and joy i was very happy with the way it does it. It is as simple as the man shows in the video.
Do you have any hints on fitting the plate at the right angle ect as I just can't figure mine out! Stand arrived next day for me which I was verry impressed with
Hello martinowen I will try and get some pictures and post them over the weekend for you to try and show you how to adjust it. It seems quite fiddley and complicated but once you get your head round its not that bad!
Hi martinowen Here is a few pictures which should be close enough for a base setting for the stand. My bike is a 2010 model if yours is similar model then it should be close. First i got the adapter plate with the two pins the small pin was loose enough to slide it in the slot i offered it up to the bike with the pin adapter already fitted to the bike and correctly torqued up. When the adapter plate fitted the location points on the bike i nipped up the lower pin on the plate and made sure it came away from the bike and relocated smoothly. I then torqued the pins up correctly then tried it into the location points on the bike again for smooth operation. Next thing was to fit adapter plate to the stand assuming you have same model if you put the adapter plate to the stand the way i have in the pictures noting the main bolt to the stand goes in the same as mine (the centre hole it says in the instructions makes the stand foul the gear change lever) i then nipped main bolt up so i couldn't move by hand. The next step was to take the bike off the side stand (easier if you get someone to hold bike upright as its a bit fiddly on your own) now the main arm on the stand pullout pin and let the plate move down the stand on mine it moves lower than the bike location points. Move the arm so as the adapter plate is as close to the location points as possible then use the 13mm adjuster bar to the plate to adjust the angle of the pins to suit the bike should be fairly easy as main bolt is only nipped up. Once the pins located in the bike i moved stand away and had to loosen big bolt so adapter plate moved so i could tighten 13mm lock nuts moved adapter plate back up checked for location into bike then nipped bolt up checked again, i double checked smooth locating (you may have to do this a few times, i did) to bike then torqued main bolt up and the nyloc nuts for adjuster bar. Check the lock nut on adjuster bar between the main arm and sliding bracket is tight too. Once you are happy everything is torqued up as per instructions (you don't want bike falling off if anything is loose) and pins locate into bike smoothly then it should be ok to raise the bike on the stand checking nothing on stand is fouling the bike as you do so. Once its raised the lock pin will click into position then when ready to lower take the weight of the bike with the main arm and release pin then lower bike slowly. Maybe best getting some help to steady bike for first few times raising and lowering till you get used to it.The instructions in the kit are a bit vague and doesn't help having a Yamaha R1 on them. It works well for me and im happy with the way it does it, So if you follow the instructions for kit and see the way i set mine up and take your time with fine adjustments to get it locating smoothly it will make using it easy.I did notice first time seperating them was tight but has been ok since. I think if Busters are retailing it then i would steer clear, great for Oxford ear plugs and such like but not something that will be holding up a £10k bike.
Right I'm getting somewhere but.......how do you adjust the angle of the bike lift? The rear lifts really high but front only mm off the floor!
Hi Martinowen. Apologies being a while to get back to you been having an internet problem. I'm not sure about adjusting the angle of the bike. it said in the instructions if i remember correctly it mentions the adjusting bar to the adapter plate but if you do adjust that the pins wouldn't locate as easy you could try a very slight adjustment on the bar and the lower pin would need to go towards the front wheel which should lift the front wheel up more and you would need to undo the large bolt to move the plate then retighten it before you lift your bike. Just an idea if you have the bike front wheel sat on a small piece of wood (maybe an off cut of plywood maybe 16mm thick) on the floor then re set up the adapter plate as last time then the front would come up higher ,but you would need to place front wheel on the piece of wood every time you use the stand. i'm not 100% sure if my bike is set up as standard or has been changed as it has had a previous owner but mine lifts up level set up how i said last time. Hi martinowen the adjusting bar you got pictured would only affect the angle of the lever arm to the bracket that holds the mounting plate its the other adjusting bar which will alter the angle of the adapter plate which will alter the angle the bike lifts. I will get a couple more pics in the morning and show you how to adjust the angle of the adapter plate thus adjusting the angle of the bike. The threaded bar that is bent on your stand should be replaced with a high tensile piece of threaded bar of same thread or maybe you could order a replacement from there website. I will look on the website and put that up for you tomorrow as well (internet permitting). Pity you don't live closer i would have popped around to sort it for you.
They are resending a replacement part on Monday, I was hoping this would solve the issue with the front not lifting as I can't seem to alter the plate with the pins without it affecting the pins going in the holes
Hi martinowen on the picture top left is the threaded bar to adjust the angle of the adapter plate obviously the large bolt will need to be loosened to adjust it. If you sit front wheel on thick ply wood as in bottom left pic then look at how it affects the pins to the bike in top right pic. Maybe if you adjust the adapter plate to the bike with front wheel on the ply wood I think it should bring the front wheel up higher. Like i said on a previous post i adjusted the adapter plate how i said and bottom right pic shows how level my bike is and im not sure if my bike has different ride heights than yours as mine has had a previous owner.
