Personally I can't see a V4 Fireblade ever being made the brand history is very important to Honda and the Fireblade has always been IL4 my personal opinion is it will always be IL4. As already said any V4 special will most likely be an RC or RCV or thats my 2 pence worth on the subject.
It's official! http://www.twowheelsblog.com/post/16361/honda-confirms-plans-for-a-road-legal-rc213v-in-2014
Looking at the bigger picture with what's happening with the Ten Kate Superbike Team, I would guess its going to be something similar to when Yam launched the YZFR7 in limited numbers in order to comply with the entry rules to a production bike series. I think from memory that was around the £27k mark...back then! Would love to think I'd be able to own but not at the 40 - 50k mark... Still, be very interesting to see how the story develops and awesome to see Honda up there competing for a production bike championship again!
There is a lot missing from all this from Honda, seems the press are making a lot of it up! time will tell but one things for sure if its anything like the NR and RC I would not be surprised if its over 50k to buy in 2014. I'd rather they make a full production v4 than a full blown GP rep then maybe we could all have a chance at one, but then Honda have said a production bike with GP technology's so maybe we will get another production model.. RC1000V maybe?
Already had a customer enquiring to find out of we had any details. I doubt Honda have many if any details themselves yet and the press are having to read between the lines to feed us what we don't know. It's quite an exciting prospect though.
maybe they are doing it so they can sell the engines to the crt teams , or releasing a crt bike then throwing some lights on it and sell a few extra's i think one would look very nice in my garage
That is what they are doing, the press have made a big deal of small bits of info said at the press day, Honda have NOT said they will make a rep of the RCV at all! They said they will make an all new superbike (no talk of what config, il4 or v4) that will be massive money and use motogp tech FROM the RCV for use in CRT at around one million euros (Shane's kind of bike) and also be homologated maybe for use in WSB.
Some small bits of info of the new RCV rep road bike and some good reading Looks like its going to cost around £70,000.00 to £80,000.00! and like I said a CRT ver for a cool 1,000,000.00 euros! Honda RC213 V4 Street Bike to Cost $100,000+ Interview: Dave Hancock
to quote the thread title " Honda to make the FireBlade we have all been waiting for" well they arnt making the bike Im waiting for.Im waiting for a v4 honda that has the race DNA but joe average can afford.I think they are totally missing the point if this is what they are building. It's going to be another NR750 turkey. At least Yamaha tried to be different with the race sounding crossplane crank model.
Know what your saying the thread has the wrong name as said before I'm sure but a V4 blade would not be a blade... and yeah why build something 99.9% of us will never be able to afford...? I love the idea of it but as I think we all knew it was going to be massive money, so what is the point? So we can look at Top Gun ride another 100k bike round Hollywood.... Much better idea would be make a production V4 superbike...as you say mate..
[At least Yamaha tried to be different with the race sounding crossplane crank model.[/QUOTE] One of the worst sounding bikes on track !
Well unless they give me 50/60 grand for my 2011 Blade I am out. Arthur did you say topgun but really mean total tosser ie Justin Beber:
