Just had the plod visit as there have been a few burglaries in my area. He was just making sure my security arrangements were OK and see where they could improve things. Anyway he glanced at my uncovered CB1KR simply anchored on my driveway, to which I quickly replied that I will be picking up a Blade next week but will be keeping it in the garage. With a strange look he left, later it only occurred to me that to most a Blade is not just litre class RR!
Lol, even if he didnt know exactly what you meant im sure he would have worked out that is something bike related.
off on a tangent a bit, last Sunday the boys in blue were out with the old gun, i got pulled in . cop says " when you were coming off that roundabout you were doing 31, and coming towards us 35.so i asked him what his problem was (yep i'm always like that) all this time cars were flashing by, anyhow he let me off, my thoughts were he could have given me a finger wag (naughty boy) but no he pulls me up,we have just had a new "cop watcher " voted in and he wants 150 more cops perhaps i will write to him and ask why it needed 4 cops on a Sunday afternoon to point a speed gun at someone.
Only four....I counted six and a minibus were I am Last week.think they were out for a speed cam holiday Or something.probably training up in hardcore policing.
Probably their because some local old loaded councillor's wife has been moaning about the bikes !!!! Money n friends in high places talks. You'd do well sometimes to look outside the situation your in and at the possibility of other reasons for it. Possibly someone was killed or hurt their the week before their are numerous reasons for things but trust me most "cops" would rather be doing something else other than that but their lemmings doing what the bosses say. And finally if someone precious to you was killed by any vehicle doing 1MPH over the limit you'd be at every local meeting screaming at the top of your voice asking what the police were doing about the speeding problem !!!!
Its a new by-pass road opened up, its a 50 but the last bit runs past some houses, hence the 30 mph, obviously by your "tag" you are a man in blue, you want to come to wiltshire, we have got one here, that we all know his name, drives a beemer, pretends he's a biker, but he aint,
I know there hasn't been any road deaths or serious injures in years in my town but it doesnt stop the overzealous road policing when just 100 yards away family's like my own are getting intimidated out of there houses while the police cower away. I watched a car load of cops do a runner from my street when two 14yr old lads started throwing bottles at their car.its no wonder people over here approach paramilitary's to get anti-social problems solved. I really have no time for them.
Horses for corses and well said Benn, speed cameras, lowing of road speeds. Christ look at Bristol in the news, they are looking at a blanket 20mph FFS. Load of bollocks. Was watching the local news and advanced driving instructors and the rac sa a blanket 20. How can u judge every road the same? Look at size of the road, schools etc... I know if it was a blanket 20 I would be caught doing 27 in the 20 within months
Good point well made Benn. I live off a derestricted rural road that runs for a about 8 miles between two villages. It’s used as a wacky races rat run by wannabe Jenson buttons and piss heads trying to avoid the main roads, so it is no surprise that speed cameras are often present on the approaches to the villages either end. Hardly a week goes buy without someone coming off the road and ending down below in a field or knocking the power and phone posts down. Either way, the road takes no prisoners and the boys in blue do have to do what I am sure is a difficult job clearing up the carnage and mess created. Now………Lets all play nicely shall we!
1 or 2 mph over the posted speed limit is a ridiculous concept. LCD speedos are unreadable in some light situations, difficult to read through sunglasses and can flicker by several mph. All the time your'e watching your speedo your'e not watching where your'e going. The slower you go the more unstable you become making it more difficult to be aware of your surroundings.
I know someone that actually crashed because they were looking at the speedo too much to make sure they were not over the 30 limit. looked down and up for a spit second and the car in front had done an emergency stop, they clipped the rear bumper and fell off.
we have gone off on a tangent here, as someone who has actually killed a pedestrian i think i can pass comment ,but still all we get is talk talk talk about speed traps. what we need is the press targeting pedestrians remember that ad "if you are doing 30 you will injure me, if you are doing 40 you will kill me" DONT WALK IN THE BLOODY ROAD. CARS/BIKES DONT DRIVE ON THE PAVEMENT. until you have been there/done that, god forbid, believe me it aint nice.
Often, as I biker, I feel that everyone else on the road (including car drivers, police and pedestrians sometimes) will blame me for whatever happens to go wrong. That's not a "they're all out to get me" type of statement, just an honest opinion based on my observations and experiences.
Spot on, young to old, people seems to interested in listening to music, talking to mates or just having poor road sense, they just cross and don't look or listen And rolls I won't ask you to say more but sounds a horrid time when that happened
I had to deliver to a local college a couple of weeks ago and the number of students who, while maintaining eye contact with me, stepped in front of the car while I was still on the public road was so alarming that I could feel my stress level rise just manoeuvring around the campus. I was able to park right outside the main door where the technician met me with some trolleys and we proceeded to unload a large amount of chemistry and paper while still having to filter, straining, through a sea of zombies in iPods. Not a single one of them giving way to us despite it being obvious we were struggling. Once we finished, we stood for a minute discussing how dangerous it was for any vehicle having to cross the campus when a girl, texting as she went, came out of the doors, stepped between us, crossed the forecourt and walked with a smack straight into the side of the car. She was completely stunned by the fact that a Focus estate was there now where none had been the last time she crossed the road.
should try driving a bus round Sheffield Ken,fcuk me they meander all our place pip horn at em and they stick thier tongue out at yer, flag you off or worse!
round my way they have a game where they run or walk out in front of you to get you to brake. If you blast the horns their mates are waiting at the side of the road ready to pelt your car with stones.
