No, not had a reply as yet. I'll try again, might be cause it was my first post and I'm not one of their little group yet that I'm being ignored, we all know how these sites work! ha!!
It all comes off really easy, all my bodywork was already off, so from that point it took me maybe 10 mins to get the subframe and plastic tray out, and all parts removed from the tray. No cutting at all, all came out very easy.
Got this update from 1000RR.NET on Friday...... "Hey Barry, thanks in advance for your support! Here's what I'd be willing to do... I'll happily ship over to the UK free-of-charge if you order 5 or more. Does that work for you? Are you looking at the DIY version (for 2007 and earlier 1000RR's) or the PNP version (for 2008+ 1000RRs)?" So lads and lasses, register your interest here if you are after one, Id say we can easy do 5 and get free shipping, what are your thoughts?
Barry, I would like one for my RR7... what are we looking at, about £12 each given the current exchange rate? Further, how big are these DIY kits? I'm not too bothered about saving weight, I simply want to free up the room... no point doing that if the DIY kit is as big as the servo.
Well, so far I have..... Me - RR8 Andrew - RR6 GappySmeg - RR7 ChrisOzzz - 2012 JollyGiant - 2010 Kev.b - RR6 That'll be our 5 needed for free shipping. I'm happy to cover cost for them all, then you can pay me when they get here. And, as none of you really know me, you're welcome to collect (WD5) or I'll give you my full address with proof etc.. if you wish, before you send payment. Also, from what I gather from the reply I got, the 'upto 07 (RR7)' model is a DIY one, but I'll double check this with him now and let you know.
Hi I will have one for a my 2006 blade I am not far away from you so can pay an collect if thats ok .
No problem, I'll edit my post above to add those that want one. I just replied to the guy in the US to say I'll give it until this Friday to see how many more we can get, before I give him a final figure to ship over.
Did you find out if the one's for the RR6 are plug and play or DIY, as I would never get round to making one from a kit!! I might have missed it somewhere but how much roughly are they going to be? Cheers Andrew
Andrew, I've just had this reply in..... Sadly, if they are 2007 or older, you will need the "DIY" version which will require some soldering of wires. However, with my newest "PNP" design I've done for the 2008+ bikes it is possible I can create a "PNP" version for 2007 and older. Could you snap a few pictures of the plug on your 2007 for me? I'd need to see both plugs, top, side, and the PIN configuration. Are you familiar with a caliper, and how to measure the distance between the pins? I can mix and match the DIY and PNP versions together when I ship to you, so make sure you figure out who wants a DIY version (2007 and older) and a PNP version (2008 and newer). Cheers, To be honest, I could probably make up the DIY ones myself as I'm ok with electrics and stuff. $15usd for a DIY kit, $30usd for a ready build plug & play. So what's that, approx £8 for DIY, £18 for P&P? (ish!!).
Could someone please post up a picture of the connector for your Servo's. close ups of the terminals etc inside. You could cheaply turn the non-P&P ones into "semi- plug and play units" for about £1 extra. Bascailly crimp the same terminals onto the end that are used within the OEM connector. so you bascially use the outer housing of the OEM connector. If you can show me pictures i can help and explain everything
Well if you could assemble one for me that would be great, how much would you want for the service? As soon as you need payment for these let me know and i'll fire it across!! Cheers Andrew
I've ordered one for my '05 from here: Servo Buddy HONDA CBR1000RR 2004-2007 FI Light Eliminator 2005 2006 CBR 1000 RR | eBay They're offering a small discount this weekend for some reason, with postage it works out at about £43, to me that is a small price to pay to stop the FI light flashing. My mind can't ignore a red light, especially as there might be another problem at the same time. I'll let you know how long it takes to arrive and if it works okay once I've fitted it. Pete
The one I ordered from Ebay (before I found the CBR1000RR forum) came today. Plugged it in, and no light. Servo Buddy HONDA CBR1000RR 2004-2007 FI Light Eliminator 2005 2006 CBR 1000 RR | eBay Within a week of ordering it from America, it's fitted. I just wish I'd seen this thread before I ordered it. It cost me almost £50 to turn a light off. Happy with the item. Pete
