3rd time now, ever since i fitted the K&N's and PC my consumption has gone from 90miles to 120miles :D I have also got the full akra Exhaust on..

i typically do 130 miles and fill up Super for £20..

This is to and from work 20 mile round trip oh which 6 miles is going down the M11 through traffic..

    Is that all!?!! :p

On my A12-M11-A1 ride up to Yorkshire I normally get to 145-155 before it comes on. Can get from London to Blyth Services before filling up, which is ~170 miles but that's if it's full when I leave. And that's sitting at 'around' motorway speeds.

One day I want to try and do the whole 190 mile door-to-door journey without filling up but I've been a bit chicken so far. Will try it one day though!

I agree with Moily, that seems quite a low return to me, pretty sure you shouldn't be putting super in though.

Super makes a huge difference to performance...you use normal unleaded..?

ps: by super i mean super unleaded 98ron fuel as apposed to 95ron.

My journey is through traffic, so just imagine riding in central London at 5:30pm.. so low speeds, low gears..

cursing on the motorway i did get about 140 miles - but i should be expecting more if i ride in 6th gear..

What kind of performance gains are you seeing?

I've seen a few consumer programmes that have said the contrary and it's a bit of a marketing gimmick by the oil firms. The additivies may help the engine life a little but it's a lot more expensive with regular usage, and especially if you're commuting on it. Do you use Super all the time?

Ask a mechanic and he'll tell you you're engine's not set up to take 98ron and could cause it harm.

I get between 120 an 145 miles before the light comes on, depends on my riding.
Dont think you need to use super unleaded .

Bikes not mapped for super but it won't hurt. Lots if car drivers use super for its leaner burn and engine cleaning properties. If the bike was mapped using super then it will have a performance benefit but without the map it won't.

I get 80 miles before the light if commuting and about 100 if out for a run on the bike. Bike is set-up 100% as well. If you are buying a bike for MPG buy a tourer, yu don't buy a Ferrari and ask the dealer what it's MPG is.

True, but it's good when you tell the 1200GS and GT owners that you can get 50mpg on a proper bike!

Something's not quite right here, there's no way a mass produced bike can have such a big difference of mileage returns and all of them are running perfectly.

Although, my bike is pretty far from what was the mass produced bike.

I've had the lowest being 90 miles after a fast road run out of a tank and up to 150 before the light when touring and doing a steady 80 for 150 miles

    So does seem low

Fireblade engine has a knock sensor and will therefore benefit from using higher octane fuel

Using a higer octane fuel will not harm, even my brother noticed a huge change in his old RC8..

smoother ride, quicker acceleration.. also if you have a map to compensate its even better.

Same apples to cars - but the fuel costs are so high now...it does not make scene specially if your car only does like 15miles to a gallon.. lol
