I was wondering has anyone fitted a scottoiler to a 2010 Fireblade with ABS that has any tips? The vac pipe to the manifold looks very difficult to get to and the only way in to the pipe that i can see is fuel tank removal. They dont mention the ABS model on the Scottoil website.
Not sure i would want all that shit sprayed over my back wheel . I think its ok for grease balls or long trips abroad .
I have done exactly that install on me 2011 ABS. good news is i did a video of the whole install. Scottoiler fitting to CBR1000RR Fireblade (www.zippysworld.co.uk) - YouTube Bad news...it would be easier to remove tank if you dont want hand scars. check the video out it might help. since it was filmed i fitted the dual injector by hanging it lower of the bobbins as suggested ON HERE! x
I've never seen the need for one on a bike, I just take 5 minutes to clean and oil my chain every other week.
Thanks for the video clip thezipsteruk it has given me lots of ideas, i use my bike for commuting alot and the scottoiler is a god send ive had bike chains last 20000 miles using one. I dont know if your last post is putting me of though! dare i ask?
to be honest with you matey, I had a scottoiler fitted to my old blade with no incidents at all saved a lot of time and helped the chain. Unfortunately I fitted one to me new repsol and for a few weeks it was working fine, although it did make a right mess of the rear wheel (think the lip on the original rear sprocket is contributing to this) without me noticing it had stopped working, after a week or so I cleaned and checked the bike to discover this! too late...now chain has a light surface rust all over! Im just a bit miffed and haven't fault found it yet, the chamber was full and the nozzles clear
Maybe thezipsteruk you could have a kink in the pipe or i had a problem similar to that on a bike i had fitted with a scottoiler years ago the thin plastic tube which drips oil on the chain/sprocket was touching and it looked as if it had melted the tip and blocked the flow of oil. To resolve the problem i cut a smell piece of the end a slightly repositioned it and it was fine after that. Also im used to cleaning the back wheel as the chain lube i have been spraying on goes all over it.
I've also fallen out of favour of automatic oilers, it only takes a day for it not to work and with the salt they put on the roads a chain will be rusty in no time. I thoroughly clean my chain every 1000 miles or so but before I apply the lube ( I use silkolene) I apply ACF50 to the outer plates with a rag. This will stop any corrosion. Before every ride I use one of those little oil cans with a trigger to apply gear oil to the bits of the chain I can see. May be a little tedious at first but after a while becomes routine. It works for me, before I sold my last bike I did 20,000 miles on the same chain, it had little wear and was still shiny, probably had a another 20,000 left in it! btw I ride all year round in all weathers (except snow!)
