So my tax runs out tomorrow and i cant find my M.O.T anywhere. i have never had to sorn anything before so what do i do.

Do i need to inform my insurance that my bike has been declared off the road ?

It will only be off the road untill i can get a copy of my m.o.t. Is the process of taxing a veichle once sorn the same as re-taxing a veicle ?

    Just go online Fez,
Just need your log book reference no, mot is like the insurance it's all electronic so it on computer if you have a valid one or not.

    Try here

    www.direct.gov.uk/vehicletax

Regarding the insurance there's a thread here somewhere, because your bike technically isn't fit for the road ie no tax you need to amend the insurance policy.

I think the cost and hassle for this make it easier for yourself. Just tax it.
£50 change of document fee etc

I'll have a look see if I can find the thread

Don't think direct, but sure you can request one now?
The reminder for the tax disc will have everything you need, you just click the confirmation box that says the vehicle has valid mot and insurance pop the reference no in from the reminder and your log book, job done. I ain't taxed a vehicle for around 6 years at a post office mate.

U can request another mot but it costs almost the same amount as an mot so better off just re- testing and getting a full 12months, it's only 30quid

    What he said.

As long as the vehicle is MOT'd & insured you should be able to tax the vehicle from either your V5 reference number (not sure if a VIN number works) or the code on your road tax reminder. You don't need physical proof of either if you do it online.

U should not need the MOT if you do it online? If you have the tax reminder just add in the code on the reminder. it will check for a current MOT and insurance and if you have both you can just apply for it

print out the email u get to say u have a Tax disc on the way and you will be fine

    same as Gary said

As gary/remal have said, it's a piece o' the proverbial to do it online and you don't need any documentation or proof as it will already be on their computers.

If you renew your tax online today, you can still use the bike on the road until your disc arrives as well. No worries.

Well i work in a supermarket with a post office inside so i know all the staff quite well. So i asked 1 of them and they did my tax with just my insurance certificate and tax reminder.

Problem solved people. thanks for all the advice though
