To store the bike over winter i would like to lift it so that the weight is off the suspension by using my ABBA stand, but cant see where to get the front off the ground too. My old Ninja was fairly centre weighted so that a few blocks of wood under the engine would get the front off the ground, but the Blade is very front heavy from the centre pivots in the frame.

Where should i lift the front?

I have the exact same issue but i have a 954 blade, i am looking at getting a Harris front under yoke stand (Paddock Stands).

I have the Abba front lift but to be honest it is utter rubbish and i would not trust a toy bike with it let along a Fireblade. I like the idea of a top yoke stand as it allows the front suspension to uncompress and of course lifts the front tyre off the ground.

Ahh good one. I'd forgotten about this after i saw it at the NEC show last month. It pulls the back down, which lifts the front up.

I could probably just ratchet strap the swingarm/wheel down on my ground anchor.

Not seen that before either, would that not affect your rear shock though?

You could hook it up to the sub frame/rear pegs if you don't want your shock topped out.. ;)

Yeah pics would be good. You could make a killing if it works ok as ABBA want £50 for theirs and i can arrange a courier to pickup for a fiver :)

Just a warning on using the ABBA stand and a headstock stand, which I had until last year. when using the ABBA stand it does not lift the bike up enough and once you use a headstock stand it brings the front up but lowers the back wheel just enough onto the ground to stop you moving the rear wheel.

So I went for a Harris rear stand and got ride of the ABBA. nice as it was the Harris stand is easier to use in my garage as it's close to the wall on the right hand side

I went for the HARRIS STAINLESS STEEL "PRONG TYPE" REAR PADDOCK STAND second one down Paddock Stands

I use a Biketech headstock stand on the front. and as the ABBA raises the bike mid way it was not far enough up to lift the rear wheel

And have this from stand. both work very well togeather. Front Headstock Stand | Any bike

But if I did not have it then I would go for the Harris head-stock stand in a second. the quality if first rate

I've got a head stock stand that works fine with my abba stand. Rear stays off the floor and front up aswell.
Can't remember the make will have a look tomorrow for you if you like.
