Be glad we are not on tour now - here is the forecast for Cairngorm mountain which we will past very close by.... Drifting snow and Blizzard conditions above the middle station. The tunnel mouth is blocked by snow and until the weather improves we cannot start attempts to clear it. Forecast predicting high winds with further overnight snowfall into Saturday. It is unlikely with the forecast of SE winds 50 to 70 gusting 90MPH that we will be able to operate any uplift during Saturday. We expect large accumulations of drifting snow driven by 70 mph SE winds which will affect mountain operations. Slightly warmer temperatures on Sunday, then charts are showing deeply cold weather from Christmas Day onwards. Machines have been pisting out massive drifts on the M1, Zig Zags and middle station into the lower slopes today which has improved these areas. Snow conditions across the mountain are looking great for Christmas and New Year Holidays!
Sounds about right for up there mate. It's skiing season up that way. It's the same up the Ben Nevis range, where the downhill mountain bike coarse turns into the ski run this time of year. Different planet an all that
Quick update on the guest house for Thursday night and payment, i just waiting to hear I'd they want full payment in advance or just deposit.
Just spoke with guest house owner - he does not need deposit / payment up front - just pay on the day at £35
Firstly hope Collin don't mind me adding in? The larger hotels when i rang in november still had room mate. I rang the two main ones that we've done through booking.com and they still at the time have availability. The problems will start with the thursday nights digs and the sunday nights. Smaller hotels I belive. I know the shut off for payment to be made to Collin in full is march 1st we won't know till then if there will be any spaces available. That I understand my friend is no use to anyone on the reserve list really wanting to come. So IMO it's a toss of the coin either see if anyone drops off the list? Or source your own digs to make sure? Hope that helps?
