Despite the record breaking dry spring and 8 weeks of no rain which subsequently lead to an official drought and hosepipe ban early in the year, (something i tried to cling onto as a positive) 2012 has been named as the wettest year on record! So Si (and a few others) it would seem all your moaning was justified, and for that you have my apologies lol On the plus side, 2013 can't be any worse (can it?!) so here's to a dry and happy biking 2013
Well, the general consensus is that the changes in the shape/position of the Jet Stream are the cause of our wet and changeable weather... and although there's been scarily little research on the subject, there is the widely-held fear that the Jet Stream is going to continue to be erratic for the foreseeable, meaning we may well have years of overly wet & changeable weather ahead: BBC Article Time to trade in those 'blades for some jetskis methinks!!!
I saw a programme on this, really interesting and also quite worrying!! However I live in hope that next year it will be totally irratic and swing in favour of us good biking folk.....
Absolutely... am hoping for the best... would a steady 3 months of balmy dry weather be too much to ask for?!?!
Technically, it's the traditional position of the jet stream that gives our dry, warm weather. It's not so much that its moved and spoiled everything, its more that its hung around for a while and changed our weather for the better. Our geographical location should give us weather similar to southern Norway. The jet stream's trend, being a bit of an anomaly in its self has lulled us into a false sense of security. If it decides to go wandering off to the south then I'm afraid, this crap is what we should have had all this time anyway. Sorry.
lalalalal feck it, 2013 has got to be better than this year. I was lukcy with my very hot anglesey weekends at the end of May, but did not find as much time as i wanted to get out after that due to the crap weather
Told ya! I am an oracle of meteorological knowledge. And, theres no fekin way we had 8 weeks of weather with no rain here up Norf……. Lying turds.
Yep, may for Scotland, June for euro trip and maybe September for a euro track weekend! Hopefully it'll be a good'n
