Given we didn’t get lumbered with my mother this year, and my kids already had plans with my ex wife and her husband we decided to get away for a few days. As we are very fond and frequent visitors to Le Touquet during the summer we thought we would give it a crack for Christmas. We where not disappointed. We stayed at the Westminster Hotel and Spa, having stayed their before we knew it would be nice but I have to say the whole Christmas experience they provided was better than the four star rating they already have. On pulling into the car park we drove past the only parking space, selected R and started to reverse into the space to be blocked by some dick head in a Jag that pulled up right behind me, and then promptly nicked the place, forcing me to park half on and half off the car park. I was about say something but L convinced me to let it go. It was Christmas Eve and the season of good will after all. It came as no surprise to note that the Jag had a 75 number plate; Parisians are not generally known for there driving etiquette We went for a walk and marvelled at what we think we remember as being dry soil. Yes dry dirt, just like Costner had in a jar in Water World. I commented to L that I would collect some later as a late Christmas present for Kpone, but alas within a few minutes it started to rain and the moment was gone. The Christmas Eve buffet had to be seen to be believed and contained amongst it all our favourite sea food, needless to say we stuffed ourselves silly with Crab, Lobster, King prawns and above all my favourite, Oysters. All washed down with perfectly chilled Bollinger champagne. Christmas day we awoke still stuffed from the night before to face breakfast being delivered to our room and open our presents. We decided to not spend much money on gifts this year as our little holiday was quite expensive. L pulling a rabbit out the hat once again with the prefect present for me. A treasure chest full of Hot Tomales ! After another short walk around the town it was time for lunch, 7 proper courses and 2 courses of appetizers. I have to list this as it has to be the best meal we have ever eaten: each course with a wine perfectly suited to the course Bollinger Special Cuvee Deep fried oysters More Bollinger Truffles with gnocchi and muchroom 2010 Chateauneuf du pape blanc (I never knew they did a white) Quails egg with marinated duck foie gras and sea lettuce (we gave the foie gras a swerve) More Chateauneuf de pape Scallops with truffles and butternut custard Iced pink Champagne and vodka sorbet 2011 Menetou Salon Blanc Sole, Caviar with lime and beaten butter 2008 Saint Estephe Venison with quince and chestnut (we swopped the venison for Beef) Cheese’s Muscat de Beaumes de Venise Lemon Muslin with milk orizaa ganache banana sherbet Coffee and chocolates The meal took three and half hours to eat, closely followed by a waddle back to the room and four hours well needed shut eye. In the evening we really needed to walk the lunch off and so wandered into town again and down to the beach. The local council had made a huge effort with the lights and it was a perfect winter wonderland. The photos really don’t really do it justice. Boxing day was spend with a long walk on the beach in the howling wind and rain followed by an afternoon nap and a meal in town (yep Oysters again, what else do think we would eat in Le Touquet) We left the next day bobbing over the border into Belgium to pick up some cheap cigarettes and boot full wine. Overall I would give the Westminster a 10/10 and would not hesitate to stay again. If you dont mind spending a few quid you could do a lot worse. The few days away were just about perfect with the exception of the long delays on the M25 and Dartford River crossing during the return drive.
Si, I have no idea how I will ever get my 1 piece Astars leathers on again unless I go on a major acorn only diet. Still it’s a long time till spring so for now:

Viagras!? You guys must have really limp dicks if you need viagras that size. They look more like suppositories to me. Yet to eat a Hot Tomale sweet but the box they came in looks fantastic. Very reminiscent of Pratchett's 'Luggage'. Glad you had a great time David, the place looks wonderful.

Giv. It’s an American cinnamon flavoured chewy sweet that I first discovered during my honeymoon many many moons ago, and have loved ever since. I tried to get them in the UK for years but gave up. My kids went to NY earlier this year and wanted to get me a present and my ex wife suggested they get me some as she remembered I liked them so much. (Who knows the cold war could be thawing) I mentioned this to Ken at the time and he found them on some internet site, I have a slight inclining that he must have told L as she packed a shed load into that treasure chest. I can’t begin to explain how chuffed I was Giv. Just goes to prove it doesn’t matter how much money you have or don’t have it’s the thought that always counts. And no I didn't eat them all in one sitting, fcuk me didn’t I eat enough. I did give it a go though.
Sounds like you had a blast mate and a mighty impressive menu by anyone's standards I reckon!! I'm just pleased all that food didn't spoil your thirst! Lol I didn't know they did a white Pape either, is it worth looking out for?
This is all very well but I cannot be the only one to wonder if you keyed the Parisian's jag on the way out. Maybe it's just me.
